A huge well done to our squad of 12, who travelled to Birmingham at the weekend to represent the Dokan England Squad at the 2026 GB Open.

This is always a brilliant event and a personal highlight in our competition calendar. The GB Open is the biggest competition in the UK and attracts competitors from all over the world. Any medals here have to be seriously earned!

After a long 13 hour competition, running across 10 areas, with 1500 competitors, Dokan managed to top the medal table with a fantastic:

We are very proud to announce the launch of our brand new SEND Karate classes, specially designed to provide a fun, supportive and inclusive environment where every child can develop confidence, coordination and new skills through karate. โค๏ธ

Our instructors are both qualified school teachers, with extensive experience in safeguarding and supporting children with SEND.

We understand that every child is different, which is why our sessions are designed to be patient, positive and adaptable, allowing children to participate at their own pace.

A pleasure to be down at the centre today, teaching free karate taster sessions to celebrate it's 100th year anniversary. Even managed to snap a few shots from the archives.

I have had the pleasure of running the club at Ryhope for the past 11 years now. However, there is a rich history of karate being taught there from many, many years ago. Thank you to all instructors, students, parents and volunteers who have played a part in developing this over the the years.
