⏳🥾 Only 4 weeks to go! 🥾⏳

In just 4 weeks, Team Honto Shin Karate Academy will be taking on the 22-mile Hadrian’s Wall challenge for Marie Curie 💛

We’re putting the miles in and training hard, but if we’re honest, we’re a little behind where we’d hoped to be with our fundraising target.

If you can spare a few pounds, sponsor the team, or simply share our page, it would make a huge difference 🙏🏻

Every donation helps Marie Curie provide vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their families ❤️

Please help us give our fundraising a big push! 💪

Tonight we said sayonara to Abigail, who has been with us for almost 2 years and has been an excellent student, as her and her family are relocating to Kent. We wish her and all of her family all the very best and hope that you’ll be back to visit us one day, and we hope that you will continue your training when you get settled in your new home. All the very best and good luck for the future Abigail 👋 🙇‍♂️ 🥋

SATs week is here for many of our younger students 📚🥋

Our biggest message this week is simple: try your best, but don’t let the pressure get on top of you. 🤯

At the end of the day, SATs are only a small moment in a much bigger journey. They do not define who a child is, what talents they have, or what they will achieve in the future.

Karate teaches us that growth comes through effort, resilience and attitude - not perfection. One lesson, one competition, or one test never decides someone’s true value.

That’s why we always encourage our students to stay active during stressful periods. Exercise and routine can do wonders for confidence, focus and mental wellbeing, which is far healthier than sitting worrying about exams all evening.

Sometimes a good session, a few smiles and time spent with teammates is exactly what’s needed after a long day at school so still come along to the dojo if you can 👌🏻

Good luck to all of our students taking SATs this week - we’re proud of every single one of you regardless of any result! 👊

It was fantastic to see everyone supporting one another, cheering teammates on, helping each other prepare, and creating such a strong team atmosphere all weekend. The attitude shown both on and off the mats reflects exactly what our club is about.

It’s also important to recognise that today was about much more than medals. We saw students who were initially nervous or unsure about competing, but who found the courage to step onto the mat, give it a go, and end up having a great experience. That personal growth and bravery is a win in itself, and something to be extremely proud of 💪🥋

A huge thank you as well to all of the organisers, officials, referees, coaches, volunteers, and everyone within the Kenshin Karate Organisation - KKO who helped put together such a fantastic weekend of squad training and competition. The amount of hard work, organisation, and time that goes on behind the scenes is hugely appreciated, and the event was a brilliant success from start to finish 👏🥋

A massive thank you also to all parents, families, coaches, and supporters for your encouragement, commitment, and support throughout the weekend.

Now it’s time to keep working hard, keep improving, and continue building towards the next competitions and squad selections ahead 💪🥋

🥾💛 Instructors Andy and Anth from Honto Shin Karate Club are once again taking on a fundraising challenge — this time in support of Marie Curie on 4th July 2026 — and we’d love for more of our members to join us! 💪

Last year, a fantastic team of 9 of us completed Trek26 for Alzheimer’s Society and raised over £3,000 🎉 This year, we’re taking on an incredible 20-mile hike around Hadrian’s Wall 🏞️ to help raise funds for a worthy cause ❤️

We’re inviting anyone who would like to come along, challenge themselves, and experience that huge sense of pride and achievement that comes with completing something amazing together 🙌

This isn’t about personal bests or competing against each other — we’re doing this as a team 🤝 It’s about supporting one another, building team spirit, and if needed, dragging each other across the finish line together! 🥾🔥 That shared challenge and sense of achievement is what makes it so special 💯

Anyone aged 14 and over can take part (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult), so this is a great opportunity for members, friends, and family to get involved 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

We would love to see as many of you as possible out on the hills with us while raising money for such an important cause 💛
