A 2-0 defeat today against Auckland Moors, unfortunately for us, we deserved to be beaten, but every now and then you have to taste defeat and learn to improve going forwards, and that's what these boys will do today.

Some outstanding individual performances today, particularly defensively and from MOTM Leo.

A few bad decisions from the referee won't change the outcome so we move forward to the next one.

Match Report;

After a very close 1st half, the deadlock wasn't broken, chances fell for David and Tyler but neither able to beat the keeper, likewise their No.8 was excellent and tested Ethan a few times in our goal.

We started to fade a little bit after a couple fitness and minor medical issues and unfortunately conceded a penalty through Theo (who was collosal today) to go 1-0 down. We then had a 'was it in or not' moment after Lex appeared to draw us level with a good strike, but it was ruled out (due to the quality of the goals and nets at the venue).
The ball was called out for a dribble in to Auckland which was nowhere near out, our lads stopped and Auckland ran up the other side of the pitch and made it 2-0.

A disappointing result but we move on the the next!

What a way to start the season! Coming away 2-1 winners against a good Belmont side, both sides evenly matched it could have gone either way, a non stop end to end game filled with excitement.

Belmont took the lead through a well crafted dribble in playing the ball across the face of our goal for a tap in. Then Mason Anderson pulled off an excellent save from a penalty to keep us in the game as we headed into half time 1-0 down.

The second half we came flying out with a few chances, eventually Lex was brought down edge of the box, he picked himself up and smashed home the free kick! It went 1-1. Another penalty was awarded to Belmont and Mason again saved very well, on the counter Leo had the ball on the right hand side and shot from outside of the box to the opposite far corner to complete the comeback and win 2-1.

It’s almost time 👏🏼⚽️🙌

Sideline Season is nearly here........

From now until next June, you’ll find us on the sidelines, standing, or maybe sitting in a folding chair, or if I'm lucky on a park bench next to another mum and dad, doing the same thing.

We’ll stand their through rain, sleet, ice, sunshine, wind and even the odd downpour if snow.

We’ll drive endless hours for training, matches at central venues or home and away games, Google maps will be out on the road friend once we get that sacred "postcode" of where we're heading.

Early morning coffee, and sandwiches on the go whilst I frantically look for the lost shin pad or the waterbottle my child assured was ready for today.

We’ll wash countless smelly socks and muddied kit, whilst wondering to myself, is that smell really from my child's boots 🤢

We’ll find endless amounts of loose grass, them black balls things from 3G, water bottles, and a couple of spare items I have no idea who owns between our car seats for months to come.

We’ll cheer and support, and be a comfort when things don't go to plan.

We’ll do the same for their teammates who now feel like family.

Even though we love it we’ll complain endlessly that it's too cold, too hot, too wet, too windy only to wake up grateful to do it all again the next week.

We’ll pray they stay safe, have fun, and learn a few life skills along the way.

Yes, sideline season nearly here, the best part of the year. The time of year when I get to proudly watch my favourite player play their favourite sport.

And wow we were right to look forward to this because what a game! End to end throughout against a team two divisions above us, every single kid on that pitch gave their absolute all and we are so proud of you. Performing the way you did for 50 minutes of football with no subs was an absolute joy to watch and even coming out with a 3-3 draw. Huge well done to Leo on man of the match who didn’t leave a blade of grass uncovered 😮‍💨 Well done to Thomas for stepping up as captain as our Lex was out injured, you did a grand job!! We hope Ethan and Lex are recovered and back with us soon!
