Disaster struck for us once again! After starting our journey to MEM early on Sunday morning the lorry decided it didn’t want to go to Germany! 5 hours later, 4 horses and a lot of belongings and kit made it back to Connegar as the lorry was towed off to be fixed 😢 After 24h of many phone calls and discussions (coinciding with an all day electricity cut 🫣) it was concluded that getting the horses to MEM 2026 was not going to be feasible (wonderful Brexit - coupled with a lot of other horses getting to Europe this week!). However, we regrouped ourselves and once the lorry had been fixed 2 days later, we repacked and made the drive anyway arriving at MEM late last night ready to support the other riders. We are very happy that Cristina Edwards has managed to find a horse to ride at MEM as we couldn’t bring Vefur for her ☹️. We look forward to watching the team and all the riders at MEM instead!
Hello from Ellenbach, MEM26!
As the sun set over Ellenbach on the eve of our team competition… we could not have had a more complex, stressful, tiring, emotional and long few days since our team literal journey began on Sunday morning.
Sadly, en route to our UK horses leaving UK, a mechanical issue meant that they missed their export appointment and with all the will and effort in the world (coupled with stress), we were unable to get a new export slot in time for the start of the competition. 😢
This means that those 4 horses will not start here at MEM.
Whilst this happened back home, 3 of our other team horses arrived at MEM, training began, phone calls continued and thoughts of starting as a team became overwhelming!!
BUT, today is day one of MEM’26 and we are ready to go…. support and work as a team… (in our own special way!)
Millie and Crissie will both start today (yes- we have managed to train with a new horse for Crissie!!!), Charlotte will start tomorrow.
Sadly Mike and Jem only arrived after sundown yesterday (having spent days at home trying everything to get the new paperwork ready….) and will not start 💔
BUT, we are here as a team together, we will support each other as a team and we will have a lot of fun here at MEM’26 with our EU neighbours!
Our ‘radio silence’ was to allow us time to try everything we could and we did… but now we focus our hearts on the competition for our team and we look forward to the next days ahead with each other and in the company of our MEM friends!
