ROVERS 9-1 ANTELOPE

A much weakened stur rovers side struggled on a day to forget . jamie danoris and will guppy defended their decision to rest so many players and said that the score line was so tame because it’s a squad game. Big names like wilko and Hewlett didn’t even make the squad and danoris Cowley and bright were only subs to start with. Rovers did start brightly when Charlie Garrod fired the rovers in front and flashed his trademark celebration to the adoring home fans. The team selection was then under great scrutiny when matty jobbins proved his weekend to forget wasn’t over as he played in the opposition striker to level the score . Luckily the starting line up did include 2 of the class of 07 who were on hand to steady the ship. Paxo scoring direct from the corner and Neil sweatmen to score from a neat finish . Further goals were added from Theo crane and Charlie to complete his brace . Rovers knew the first half wasn’t good enough and came out fighting in the second . Debutant Lewis ‘lino line white ‘ tucked away a penalty within 10 minutes of pulling on the iconic red and black . The score line enhanced when Taylor nevens tucked home another penalty to make it 7-1. Further goals were added by dom Coleman and matty jobbins who finally woke up after a heavy weekend .
After the game wilko said ‘ from what I seen it wasn’t good enough. We didn’t take it serious enough and we must improve. Especially me who needs to learn to go straight home on a Saturday night “

A huge shout out to the Sturminster Rovers

Yesterday the rovers dressed up as leprechauns for their annual charity bike ride.

This fantastic Sunday morning football team raised a massive £1009.30 . This money will be split between ourselves to fund cost of running the team and cancer research uk .

ROVERS CHAMPIONS AGAIN 😬

Sturminster Rovers 7-4 Abbas

Sturminster rovers have won the Blackmore Vale Football League after a nervy night at Barney’s field. Rovers had a depleted squad due to yet more p**s poor organising, injuries and last minute stag do hair cuts . Rovers recalled club legends Liam Joshua Frampton and Kev Griffin to the starting line up after years in the wilderness . Rovers were stunned to find themselves 3-0 down after 20 minutes. Abbas were playing heavy mental football and rovers looked scared. The first player who couldn’t start due to his 6.30 hair cut was Callum Jacob Frampton and was quickly drafted into the action. Rovers started to get a foothold in the game. chilli got a goal back before an own goal helped rovers get back into it . Sam Stockley (who’s impending stag do caused a lot of this mess ) then converted a penalty to tied the scores at half time . Second half saw Ben Cowley fresh from his 6.45 trim swarmed into the game and the club captain didn’t disappoint as he rifled home from close range to send the rovers faithful into dream land. neil Sweatmen then was added into the frame when he got there from his 7 o’clock appoint with the barbers as he replaced harried who needed his trim done at 8 . Assistant manager Danoris poked in 3 goals to secure the rovers another league title. The first one in many years . After the game will ‘dyche ‘ guppy said “ I’m happy to cross the line. It’s been a tough year and I’m glad the oldest club in the league won what could be its last one . viva la rovers “ 🔴⚫️🔴⚫️🔴⚫️

ROVERS 3-0 MERE

Stur rovers are through to another final as they beat mere to progress in the charity cup .

A strengthened mere team held their own but could not hold the rovers for long . A huge flash point happened early as a tussle between Theo crane and the oppositions striker got out of hand . A brave nick Hewlett did his best to control crane but holding his raised arm only meant Hewlett would be dragged to add precious meters on a poor heat map . Moments later crane had settled his head and stabbed home to put the rovers one nil up at the break .
Meres bad boy striker josh maskell then went on to furiously attack rovers hall of famer Sweatmen and got himself sent off . Neil didn’t need hospital treatment for the attack but did require a plaster for the dramatic fall.
Goals from Charlie harried and Jamie Danoris secured the rovers place in yet another cup final .
After the game manager will guppy said “ just cutting about mate “
