💙U12’s Friendly💙

A final summer game of the season saw the team head to our friends Exhall & Wixford CC for what is usually a great game played in great spirits and this did not disappoint.

A game to give players a chance to development with far less consequence. 2 even matched team with the winner being cricket.

Newly promoted Coach Jody took the team in the absence of husband Gaz who was busy saving the country. Her contribution this season to our juniors going once again above and beyond to ensure the kids get to play.

Bowling first we all contributed and played our part in restricting our hosts below 260. Player of the Match TM standing out with 3 wickets to once again show his versatility for the team.

Wickets fell in our chase but there was enough quality in the mine up to see us chase down the total. Experienced players LL and captain ER finding the boundary with ease as well as the destructive CH once more hitting 6’s.

Shout out to LSS making his 12’s debut and as always our star girls LG and PG who always hold their own and more vs the boys 💪🏻

A lovely way to end our weekend fixtures for the season at such a beautiful ground. See you next year Exhall 👌🏻

💙Under 13’s💙

Our first friendly for this age group in the summer and we mixed up the format to help us develop of takes.
We welcomed our new friends Bablake CC once again to the CC and another great game was had.

Bowling first in the heat was always going to be tough going and thou a few adjusted, we were just too lacklustre and not at the races. We restricted our visitors to 156 (credit to their batters) but we once again gave away too many extras and it’s our Achilles heel this season!

Batting was always going to be tough against a good attack, our openers both got good starts with some 4’s from skipper NT and a big straight 6 from JC set us a good early pace. However a flurry of wickets slowed our progress and stunted the momentum. It did bring to the crease in form players CH 31* and LL 29 who nearly got us close to victory. Finishing just 19 short was a great effort and the pair had fun entertaining the crowd with their big hitting and reverse hitting 🥳

Credit to Bablake, a great team and a pleasure to play ✌🏻

Special thanks to the cricket widow Jody Marie Roberts for all her help tonight especially providing drinks to both teams during the game whilst it was so hot 🥵

💙U12’s Summer League💙

Game 3 of the summer league saw us host local friends Tanworth and Camp Hill CC and gave us the perfect chance to bounce back to winning ways.

Winning the toss we chose to bowl first and put the pressure on early. Tach opener batted superbly for an almost u beaten 30 and plenty of other contributions made it tough for us.
We really got a strong grip of the game in the middle with spin twins HB and DF once again showing control and guile to stem the runs and take wickets.
Debutant TA then showed we have another speed merchant charging in to take 2 wickets in a fine spell of bowling 💪🏻

Chasing a total of 103 a solid start was important. Despite an early wicket, opener LR supported by his family and the legend Dave R watching on went on to make a solid 19 runs, playing some classy strokes and solid defence. CH was in his usual destructive mode, retiring at 30 at a run a ball and the ultimate all rounder LL coming in to finish 20* not out, supported by his skipper ER who finished 16* saw us home with overs to spare.

A great win for the team but a better advertisement for the game of cricket. Played in good spirits with a massive crowd for both teams, everyone supporting everyone on the pitch and a huge thanks to Tach for their support for our players and supporters.

The bar was open with Jody R making sure everyone was hydrated a massive thanks to her for volunteering her time and effort in what was the busiest Tuesday for a while 🙌🏻 Volunteers at Gross roots are the life blood of any club and we are so lucky with have some great ones 🫶🏻

Just a couple of games to go now so it’s time to enjoy the rest of the season 🏏

💙U12’s Summer League💙

On our travels we went to Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club in what turned out to be a lesson in cricket. By far the best junior team I have seen for many a year with their all round quality.

Choosing to bat you can see why, from ball 1 they punished every ball off the stump, every short ball and really stepped on the gas early.

If it wasn’t for outstanding fielding contributions from captain ER and LL fresh off his holidays it would have been so many more.

They set a daunting total of 183 for us to win, by far our biggest chase yet. There were some notable performances with the ball esp from DF who bowled seam and spin and a fantastic leg spinning over from LG our only maiden over and in the middle of the onslaught was fantastic.

Batting was always going to be tough. K&D with a mix of purposeful pace and 4 serious leg spinners who had flight snd serious turn. We chased to the end and got up to a very credible 129 thanks to significant contributions from LL 32* JW 18 and DF 23*.

Whilst losing is never fun, we can take away lots from the game, seeing how the opposition go about their innings and taking that into our own way of cricket.

Spirits remained high, friendships and bonds can help take a team far. Once again the away support was fantastic with lots of parents, siblings and extended friends and family travelling over.

We go again 🙌🏻

💙 Stratford Festival 💙

What a wonderful day run by Warwickshire Cricket Foundation featuring The Bears 🐻

We played 3 games against Stratford A, Stratford B & Kenilworth. All who were wonderful & played with smiles.

Our juniors batted great with lots of boundaries including 6s by several, bowling was incredible with wickets, catches & run outs and the backing up in the field was spot on!

We love festivals because the vibe is all about fun 🏏💙 and our Juniors have the best time and often you aee their confidence grow as there is NO pressure.

💙Parents Match 2026💙

The annual tradition continued once again as the parents and friends of the juniors came together for 1 night to see just how hard cricket can be for their kids.

Another great turn out with 28 players getting in on the action. This year saw our very own junior sponsor Luke Billing take on veteran parent Adam Cooper. Who would be crowned captain winner of 2026?

Team Billing dressed up with the theme of clashing clothes whilst Team Cooper went with Hawaiian shirts.
A massive thanks to Kirstie Cooper for once again scoring and keeping the scoreboard ticking over and several of our juniors for umpiring the game.
An even bigger thanks to CD Engineering (Andy & Michelle) for once again sponsoring the game which enabled us to purchase 17XL pizza for after the game 🍕

This year’s winners… Team Billing 🥳
A solid display in the field really restricted the runs and stopped the Coopers chasing down the daunting total of 283. Congrats to Luke and all of his team ✌🏻

The real winner thou was cricket itself. A chance for the parents who support our club, their children, others children and buy into everything we do to have a night about them.

💙U12’s Summer League💙

A short trip to one of our favourite opposition in Dorridge Cricket Club for yet another great game played in great spirits.

The summer league t20 is a great time to get the current 11’s prepped for next season whilst adding some experience from the actual 12’s.

Summer captain ER won the toss and put Dorridge in. LW started the game incredibly, bowling the opener first ball to set the tone for the game. With everyone bowling 2 overs it gave everyone a chance to show us what they had. Wickets came early to stem the flow of runs and fielding was well organised. Beautiful spells from LR and JH including a great catch from the latter and 2 wickets for leg spinner LG kept the momentum and then a couple of run outs late on (ER with his 7th of the season) saw us restrict the hosts to just 86.

The half time chats were clear, be positive, play the ball on merit and keep the strike rates up. 2 wickets in the first over wasn’t ideal but it didn’t stop player of the match JW from playing his shots. He raced to retirement of 32* off just 15 balls. He was then ably supported by DF in a great partnership and then we finished off the game in 9 overs with LW 26* and ER 10*.

A great start to the summer league, positives a plenty and great to see such team spirit amongst the mixed team.

💙 U11s 💙

It’s been a great season so far, and we travelled to Alcester looking to pick up another win on our travels.

Winning the toss, we elected to bat first, and it proved to be the right decision.
LR and TH gave us a solid platform with some excellent stroke play and positive running between the wickets. PG and LG continued the momentum before HB and JH kept the scoreboard ticking over. DF and JH then finished the innings superbly with an excellent partnership, helping us post an impressive total of 320.

Losing just one wicket throughout the innings was a real testament to the technical improvements every player has made this season.

At the interval, the message to the team was simple: treat the target as if we were defending 220, not 320. We wanted the same intensity and focus, regardless of the scoreboard.

The bowlers responded brilliantly. TH and LH both picked up a wicket, with LG taking an excellent catch. PG claimed two wickets, while JH also got among the wickets. The rest of the attack bowled accurately and backed each other up in the field, restricting Alcester to 220.

Another outstanding all-round team performance and another well-deserved Studley victory. The hard work in training continues to show every week, and it’s fantastic to see every player contributing to another successful morning
