Looking to get race practice in over Winter?
Sign up to our small boats race day aimed at experienced rowers looking to have a bit of fun and hone their enduro racing.
We'll be racing around Studland Bay, straight from Knoll Beach.

If the weather gets challenging then we'll look to shorten the course. Payment won't be requested until the week before, just in case of cancellation.

For novices looking for race practice, we will look to offer similar events for 1x and 2x once the weather settles down.☺️

Rowers, what a year it's been! We thought it would be great to come together and celebrate an epic year for coastal rowing and Coastal Barbarians. What better way to celebrate than by rowing together and then heading to the pub? Come and join us for a blast around the bay before that winter training really kicks in.

We're keeping the format pretty loose right now as the weather is all kinds of funky, but we're aiming for 2 sessions - 1 is likely to be a longer paddle, then the second will be a tasty race around the bay to see who's ending 2025 in glory. We might even splash out on some fancy biscuits to make you feel like a true champ...no promises though.

The price includes boat hire, please state your boat preference in the sign up form, otherwise we'll pop you into a 1x or crew.
Feel free to bring your own boats though.

To all you coastal and ocean rowers out there - Nick Johnson and his dog Louis are walking the coast of England, 3000 miles (with a few bits inland) to raise money for charity. The charity, Ovarian Cancer Action, is dedicated to improve survival rates from ovarian cancer.

3000 miles for those who don't know is the same distance the transatlantic rowers commit to when they row from La Gomera to Antigua.

Nick and Louis will be passing many coastal rowing clubs on their 7.5 month journey; if you see him pass your club do offer Nick a cuppa and I am sure Louis would be up for a biscuit or two.

We wish them every success raising funds for a great cause.

Add the date in your diaries! The Barbarians are inviting you to their home waters for some gnarly coastal rowing racing in one of the most beautiful parts of the Jurassic coast.

Get set for the sand, sea and speed of Swanage Bay as we offer a race course that's designed to test the best. With a real mix of flat, chop and challenging turns it's going to be a lot of fun to race! We're shutting off the Swanage parade too, so spectators will get the best views and enjoy nail biting finishes along the shoreline.

If you want to get a head start and sample the Swanage waters - we train every Saturday from the and you're always welcome to join us.

Keep your eyes out for more details on our regatta in the new year - but in the meantime, gather your crew together and enjoy those cold winter miles!

Great News !!!

We have a new event for (FISA) coastal rowers, thanks to our friends at Christchurch RC. They are adding CO1X and CW1X classes to their 2.7km race to the Head of the Stour on Sunday March 5th. I will be taking some singles along if anyone wants to hire a boat. It would be great if other clubs/boat owners could bring their singles along too, as it would be great to support Christchurch RC.
