Join Our New Couch to 5K Beginners Group! 🏃‍♀️✨
Ready to start your running journey? Join Stroud & District Athletic Club for our new 6-week course starting February 3rd!

Led by our experienced leader Ryan Major, this course is designed specifically for those starting from scratch. Over 6 weeks, we use a supportive walk-to-run method, gradually increasing our distance until we hit the 5K mark together!

The best part? Joining the club now as an Adult Social runner costs just £14 and iuncludes the C25k course (covering you until March 30th!).

HOW TO JOIN:

That’s a Wrap! First Santa Dash Raises Nearly £3,500 for Allsorts

The 2025 Santa Dash is officially in the books, and what an incredible debut it was! We are thrilled to announce that your festive enthusiasm and determination helped raise close to £3,500.

These funds will go directly to Allsorts, helping them create accessible everyday experiences for children and young people with additional needs across Gloucestershire.

A Message from the Race Director
We hope everyone had a fantastic time on the course. We are already looking forward to putting on next year's event.

📣 Stroud Half Marathon Road Closure Alert! Sunday, October 26, 2025 📣

Get ready for the Stroud Half Marathon this year, one of the area's biggest annual sporting events! With around 2,000 athletes participating, temporary road closures are necessary to ensure the safe passage of all runners.

The race starts at 9:00 am on Sunday, October 26, 2025, and will start and finish on Cainscross Road.

Please see the key closures and the rolling road closure details below and plan your journeys accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience, though access will be available for Residents, businesses and emergency services only (where applicable).

Major Closures:

A419 Cainscross Road: Closed from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm. This is the start and finish line area.

B4008 (Westward Rd & Ebley Rd) to Bath Road R'about: Closed from 8:50 am to 9:25 am.

B4008 East Bound Only: From Bath Road R'about along Ebley Rd and Westward Rd to Cainscross R'about closed from 9:35 am to 12:00 noon

Oldends Lane, Stonehouse: Closed from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon between the A419 (Bristol Road) and Midland Road.

Nupend (Grove) Lane: Closed from 9:00 am to 11:15 am , running from the A38 down to Great Oldbury Drive.

Standish Lane, Stonehouse: Closed from 9:20 am to 11:00 am between Standish Church and the A38.

Paganhill Lane: Closed from 8:50 am to 12:30 pm.

Closures in the Dudbridge/Cainscross Area:

Dudbridge R'about to Cainscross R'about (North): Closed from 8:50 am to 9:25 am.

Cainscross R'about to Dudbridge R'about (South): Closed from 8:45 am to 12:30 pm.

🚧 Rolling Road Closure Stonehouse Area(Northbound Only) 🚧
Please be aware of a rolling road closure that will be in effect, affecting traffic travelling Northbound only:

Location: From Bath Road Roundabout (Horse Trough) through Stonehouse along Gloucester Rd to the turn onto Standish Lane.

Time: Approximately 9:07 am to 10:00 am.

📣 Volunteer Call: Help Us Kick Off the Gloucestershire Cross Country Season! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We urgently need your help to make the Gloucestershire Cross Country Race on Sunday, October 12th a huge success!

Stroud and District Athletics Club is proud to be hosting the first race of the cross country season, and we're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us ensure a safe and smooth event for all the athletes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an exciting local sporting event, cheer on the runners, and support your community. No previous experience is required—just a willingness to help!

🕒 When We Need You:
Date: Sunday, October 12th
Location: Tinckley Gate National Trust
Time: Shifts available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We'll happily take volunteers for a full day, a morning shift, or an afternoon shift—whatever fits your schedule!

🤝 Key Volunteer Roles:
We specifically need help with two crucial roles:

Car Parking: Directing traffic and runners to the correct parking areas.

Marshalling the Course: Guiding runners along the correct route and cheering them on!

If you're interested in volunteering or want to learn more, please comment below with your preferred shift time (Morning/Afternoon/Full Day) and we will get back to you.
