Stromness Parish 2 v 5 Sandwick

A tough day at the office as Sandwick run out winners and progress to the next round, best of luck to them for the rest of the competition.

This wraps up our parish season for 2026, a big thank you to all our supporters who come and cheer us on no matter what the weather (or our form) is like, it’s much appreciated.

To help everyone get over the result today here’s a bunch of handsome lads in the new kit that was very generously sponsored by Leviathan International, a big thank you from all of us.

FULL TIME RESULT

STROMNESS (4) 3 - 1 (5) Sandwick

Absolutely superb performance from the boys today, after managing to get 3 goals up and level the tie on aggregate Sandwick nicked a goal with 20 minutes to go and although Stromness pushed and created several chances they couldn’t quite find the goal to take the game to extra time. Best of luck to Sandwick in the next round.

Parish cup 1st round 1st leg Result

Sandwick 4 - 1 Stromness Parish

A tough night out in Dounby where the team seemed to struggle to get going and fell to a 4-1 defeat. Notable performances from Alex Adamson and Magnus Kirkpatrick who made their Parish debuts and our solitary goal was scored by Veteran Andrew Groundwater who is now referring to himself as “G9”.

The return leg is on the Sunday of folk festival where the boys will be hoping to put in an improved performance as we look to turn the tie around.

Lighter evenings, the smell of freshly cut grass and lambs jumping about in the fields, this can only mean one thing…it’s time for the Parish Cup to commence!

We start off our campaign this Sunday against Sandwick in Dounby looking to avenge our defeat to them at this stage last year.

As always your support is very much appreciated and it would be great to see you all there to cheer the boys on!

Semi final result

Stromness Parish 1 - 4 Birsay

On a scorching day at the market Green Stromness turned up with 13 players….this was soon reduced to 12 half an hour before kick off when we found out our starting right back Alistair Park was actually in Canada! This meant a start for veteran Gary Foubister who put on a great shift for 60 minutes. Stromness dug deep and although playing well found themselves 2 down at half time to a good Birsay side. A very even second half resulted in Stromness getting a goal back and with chances at both ends the game stayed at 2-1 until the last 10 minutes when Birsay scored 2 late goals to progress to the final. Best of luck to them next weekend and thank you to everyone that came and supported us today.

Stromness Parish play current holders Birsay in the Thornely Binders Semi Final today, it’s a 3pm KO at the market green so let’s get a good crowd along to cheer the boys on as we look to make the final and win the cup for the first time since 2019….i think! Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!
