At the end of a long, hot, draining day, three teams were tied on 2-wins each.

Congratulations to Anglesey Arms Petanque Club, who win the Plate with 10 wins to 5 losses across the three games. Trafford and The Railway Inn had 9 wins and 6 losses each. We were told the second tiebreaker was head-to-head record, which would place Trafford 2nd despite a worse points difference. Evidently, it was an incredibly close result either way.

Well played to Penkridge in their first year in the Euro Cup, who played better than their scores show.

Thanks to all the players from the four teams, who played the games in friendly, sporting but competitive spirit.

Congratulations to Rochdale Pétanque’s Ian and Francois for their success in this weekend’s Pétanque North West senior doubles competition.

Congratulations also to Trafford Petanque’s own Neil Hessing and Paul Fairbrother, runners up on the day, who also qualify for the national Champion of Champions event in September.

PNW Regional Singles

On Sunday 30th May, Rochdale Pétanque hosted the PNW Regional Singles event. It was a beautiful day for pétanque, with scorching sunshine providing perfect conditions for a fantastic day of competition.

A total of 21 players entered, battling through the morning qualifiers before being split into Gold, Silver, and Bronze groups. The afternoon then saw the group play-offs take place, with players competing hard to secure the top spots in their respective sections.

After some excellent matches throughout the day, the winners were:

Gold
1st Place – Paul Fairbrother
2nd Place – Mike McNicholas
3rd Place – Neil H

Silver Winner – Brynn

Bronze Winner – Dave Hall

Congratulations to all of the winners, and well done to everyone who took part and made it such an enjoyable and competitive event.
