Well, what can we say! Saturday saw a warm and dry day with a fabulous crowd and lots of entertainment.

We were treated to fantastic performances by The Isle of Skye Pipe Band, the Skye Highland Dancers and Gaelic Singers from Lochcarron Primary School.

We had the largest number of Heavy competitors ever, with 6 guys battling it out, and Jamie Gunn coming out on top, setting a new ground record in the Weight for Distance for good measure. We were also proud to hold the first ever Lochcarron Ladies Heavy event with 8 entrants, and Rachel Tice from California taking the top spot.

The athletics field was as strong as ever, with newcomer to Lochcarron Luc Macleod, and regular Daisy Hendry taking the respective top athlete accolades. Luc set new ground records in both the 400m and Long Jump. The famous Hill Race had a slightly smaller entry this year, no doubt due to the unusally warm weather but Philip Vokes still managed a storming first place, although didn't quite manage to beat the course record that he set last year!

The Tug O'War remains one of the hotly contested activities on the day and it was great to see so many teams taking part. It was clear that we had visitors from around the world and the international audience do seem to love the Games vibe. We had a large youth group visiting from France who took part in many of the Track and Field events, Hill Race and Tug O'War with great enthusiasm.

We had a wonderful array of stalls and exhibitors and some fabulous food. The Lochcarron Sailing Club team also did a sterling job of the family activity area that was busy all day long.

Ultimately a Highland Games is all about the people. THANKYOU to all of our visitors for choosing to spend the day with us. Our thanks to all of the Heavies and Athletes for travelling to Lochcarron - we are so grateful for your support.

But most of all, THANKYOU to every one of our wonderful volunteers who make this event possible. The Games is a mammoth undertaking involving so many people, and we appreciate you all.

To our sponsors, thankyou for trusting us with your support.

Lots of highlights from The Games on Saturday, but having our first full Women's Heavies event was a real moment. Our thanks to everyone who took part, we had the biggest field ever with 14 heavies overall ( 6 men, 8 women and a waiting list!!) and they were all fabulous. The professionalism, sportsmanship and general level of enthusiasm was a joy to see.

It was so good to have such a mix of seasoned athletes, newer throwers and also international visitors to make up a diverse and entertaining event.

Thanks to Jamie, Sinclair, John, Simon, Ian, Jake, Jackie, Angie, Claire, Sarah, Rhanna, Rachel, Heather & Morven for coming along and supporting our event.

Thanks also to the helpers who supported our team to make it happen on the day.

Finally massive thanks to Bakkafrost Scotland for the critical sponsorship which has supported the heavies event for some years, and who enabled us to have the women's event this year with equal prize money. We are so grateful for their support and look forward to the event growing.

After a truly fabulous day yesterday, with lots of memories made, it's now time to get the site tidied up!!!

On Monday 20th July, we'll be on the field from about 2pm starting to get things packed away if anyone is around to help.

Then @ 6pm - we'd be grateful to see as many as you as possible to help get the big tents down safely and packed away whilst its dry! It's such a treat to have kit that is nice and dry that we want to work quickly to make the most of the good weather โ˜บ๏ธ

Thanks so much for being part of our day!
