Hi folks. For anybody coming to the club on Sunday from Milngavie direction, there are road closures. The A81 Strathblane Road is to be closed on Sunday 14th ( The day of our shoot) for 8 days. This is the section at the Nuffield Health Gym. It will be closed from marchfield (the last houses on the road out of Milngavie) to near Bankell farm. There will be a couple of diversions in place.
Here are the council diversion details, followed by the way that I would go. --- .
Milngavie - A81 Strathblane Road
· Reason for closure: East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Service is to carry out carriageway resurfacing works
· Town: Milngavie
· Road affected: A section of the A81 Strathblane Road, Milngavie, between its junctions with Marchfield and a point north of the access road to Nuffield Health Centre, Milngavie
· Duration: from 6am on Sunday 14 June 2026 until 11.59pm on Sunday 21 June 2026
· Notes:
Alternative routes will be by of the A81, the A807 though Milngavie and Balmore, the B822 through Torrance, and the A891 through Lennoxtown, and these routes will be sign posted. The B8030 and the B8050 through Milngavie, the A809, and the B834 near Croftamie, will also be sign posted.

The way that I would hope to go -- straight on at the cross, up the side of Andiamo’s. ( Baldernock Road). Through the ford. Turn left, onto Dowan Road. Up the hill and turn left again at the church on to craigmaddie Road. Carry straight on and turn right at the main road (A81) just at the glamping pods.

Sorry to let you all know of the passing of another member. Alex McCaffrey passed away suddenly on 6th of May. Alex had been a member for a good few years and was seen regularly up at the range.

Day two, Sunday. Another massive amount of work done. The day Kicked off with another episode of “Boys from the black stuff”. They finished the big potholes on the track, you know those ones like a crater on the moon. You could drive down into them and up and out the other side but it took five minutes. We even sorted a few on the tenant’s driveway. His wife just happened to drive past while we were finishing and stopped to say thanks and said she couldn’t tell us how happy she was to see the potholes filled. Slower driving will help.
We then moved into the woods. Since the storms bringing down so many of the trees, drainage ditches have got blocked and the ground has got flooded in places. So, drainage ditches were cleared and new ones dug. A lot of logs had to be cut and shifted as part of this work. The digger got into some areas but a lot of it was down to boots sinking into the mud, and hand digging. It was satisfying watching the water starting to flow again, first as a trickle then a fast flowing stream through the cleared channels as it all started to drain.
Susan, and Nicola were painting the new shooting benches, assisted by Zander. By the end of the day it was obvious that a lot has been done this weekend. The ground is already starting to dry out. Thanks everybody for all your efforts. This should let us get better use of the ground again. Now we can get on with setting out the course for the fun shoot. Watch this space.

Well Done today everybody. It started by watching a wee mouse having breakfast from the spill from the bird feeder then changed to an episode of "boys from the black stuff" as folk worked on filling potholes, then after a quick cuppa all change again to Drains and Trenches. All this while Susan was painting and Ian Thomson was servicing the target retrieval system and changing pellet catchers. All made nicer by the great weather, and,,,, we get to do more tomorrow . 😁 Here are some pictures.

Hi Folks. Due to a couple of reasons, I have had to cancel the digger for next weekend. We hope to carry out the work the following weekend ( 25th-26th). Watch this space

Day 2 of the clearing of part of the woods to allow some drain works. This had the secondary benefit of opening up a section for shooting that had been blocked by fallen trees and branches. A big thanks goes out to all those who helped. 10 folk worked like the proverbial well oiled machine. Some moving branches to others who were extending the dry hedge fencing, others cutting logs into manageable pieces, others barrowing logs to be stacked out of the way. We even got some ditches cleared and dug. There will be some sore muscles tomorrow. Here are some pictures from today. I hope to have a digger and dumper for next weekend so we can get the potholes filled and some drainage dug.
