This weekend the junior competition has a later tee off due to a competition being played. The tee off will be 2:30pm-3pm and the times are live on the website.
There is also a flag competition on at usual time of 3:30-4:30, anyone who wants to play can you let us know on here or via the what's app page and also anyone who can volunteer to walk around.

Just an update on the Junior Section, due to some personal issues I have decided to stand back from running the juniors. Tonight I sat in on a meeting with Club Captain, Alan Halley - Vice Captain, Lowrie Neill - Club Professional, Calum Lawson, Junior Helpers, Iain Munro & Gordon Sneddon. Moving forward there will be a new structure for organising the juniors with more volunteers required with less responsibilities and the Pro Shop will assist in the running of the section. If you feel that you can give some assistance in the Junior Section can you get in touch with [email protected].
Can I say a huge thanks to everyone who has assisted me with the juniors over the past 2 years and I wish all the juniors who have been a credit to themselves and their parents over the past 2 years.

This Sunday (13th August) there are no Junior Competitions or Flag Events due to the Mid Handicap Open being on.

Well thats a wrap on the Junior Championship for another year and what a thoroughly miserable second round we had to endure, 2 abandonments, thunder&lightening the lot, a huge thanks to all those who were out squeegeeing and managed to get all players round and play completed. Iain Munro, Gordon Sneddon, Lowrie Neill, Billy Hunter and to the 'top banana' greenkeeper, Stephen Hunter who also turned up to assist.
A huge credit to every single one of the competitors who had to brave those conditions but each and everyone of them finished there rounds-hats off boys and girls!!
In the Junior Championship, Tyler Sneddon made it a unique treble with rounds of 73+74 = 147 pipping Callum Kerr by 3 strokes.
In the Danskin Trophy Matthew Cameron came up trumps with rounds of nett 68 + 66 = 134 pipping Callum Kerr on the better 2nd round.
The Brown/McDonald Shield for the 18 hole nett score(2nd round) was won by Ewan Dodds with a nett 68 pipping Katie Scannell by 3
In our Flag Competition who went out in the middle of the worst of the weather, both Ally Arnott and Marcus Thomson got their ball in the hole on the 7th green and shared the win. In the girls event Carys Peacock splashed her way around to the 6th hole.

I'm going for a lie down in a darkened room!!!

Today saw the annual Ferguson Cup Junior Open at Strathaven GC, the winner of the Ferguson Cup with a superb score of 3 under par 68 was Joseph Kelly from Cambuslang. In the Boys nett category, Charlie Barnstaple from Lanark led the way with a nett 63.

Winning the Ferguson Cup for Girls was Ellie McManus from Airdrie with a scratch 85 and Orla Moran from Irvine led the way in the nett category with a nett 76.

The Strathaven Salver awarded to the lowest gross score for a Strathaven player was won by Tyler Sneddon with a scratch 78.
Well done to every one of the 49 entrants and to all the parents and grandparents who acted as taxi drivers!!!

I have to say a huge thanks to Ian Danskin & Ian Ferguson for their assistance in running the event, could not have managed to keep it all running smoothly without your assistance.

Well done to both sets of juniors from Strathaven & Airdrie for competing in those conditions this evening in the Lanarkshire Junior League Play Off match and also in the manner in which the matches were played - well done boys.
Proud of the Strathaven lads in the way they battled to take a narrow 3 1/2 - 2 1/2 lead to Airdrie in 3 weeks time!!

Tomorrow night sees the playing of the first leg of the Lanarkshire Junior League play off final against Airdrie, first match tees off at 17:15 and it would be great to see as many out supporting the team.

This Tuesday is the annual Ferguson Cup Junior Open at Strathaven GC and currently we have 49 entrants, if there are any other Strathaven juniors with a handicap and wish to play, please send me a message!!

Next Sunday is our Junior Championship and we would like to see as many playing as possible, those with handicaps playing in the 36 hole event and the youngsters playing in the flag event. Sheets are up on the Junior notice board and the draw will be made on Friday evening.
