Spending just 20 minutes in nature can lower blood pressure, heart rate and stress levels.

Ideas come more quickly, my thoughts roam freely and I’m reminded I am not the main form of life on the planet

It’s almost time for 30 Days Wild! Will you join thousands of people doing one wild thing a day this June?

30 Days Wild encourages us to take time to create new, wild memories. So, to celebrate these wild connections, we asked some Wildlife Trust staff to share their earliest memories of being in nature.

Tom said 'I remember the first time I ever went actively looking for a bird. I took a bus to a tiny Wildlife Trust nature reserve, just a few ponds in a woodland, looking for a kingfisher.

'The flash of blue above the water stopped me in my tracks. I felt as if I’d won the lottery as this beautiful bird zipped by and perched in a nearby tree.'

This looks like a great book! His Doorstep Mile book and podcast were really inspirational to me during lockdown (do check them out while you’re waiting for his new book).
And take a look at the Wildlife Trust’s 30 Days Wild campaign, with lots of ideas to help you get outside this June.
If you need a helping hand to get started, I’m running a Nature Connection session on 30th May, with more dates to come over the summer. Message me for more details.

A few of us will be at Bedworth parkrun this Saturday, for parkwalk day. If you’re Nordic Walking-curious come and say hi!

📣 parkwalk Day – Saturday 25th April 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

This Saturday, 25th April, we’re celebrating parkwalk day at parkrun, a brilliant opportunity to show that whether you walk, run, jeff or jog it’s the 5k distance that really matters.

At Bedworth parkrun, we welcome park walkers every week, and they'll never be last thanks to our Tail Walkers.

If you know someone who might give parkrun a go if they knew walking was encouraged, bring them along!

We’re also looking for parkwalkers and volunteers to help make the event happen. No experience needed, just enthusiasm! You can even volunteer and enjoy a 5k walk.

For Saturday's event, we need to fill the following roles:

⭐ Pre event Set Up x 3
⭐ Timekeeper x 2
⭐ Funnel Manager
⭐ Marshals x 3 (Hammy’s Hairpin, Ted’s Corner & Miner’s Mount)
⭐ Barcode Scanners x 3
⭐ Finish Token Giver (Outer) x 1
⭐ Report Writer
⭐ Event Close Down x 3
⭐ Token Sorters x 2

Spread the word, bring friends and family, and let’s see if we can set a parkwalker record at Bedworth parkrun!

If you can volunteer this week, please comment below or email [email protected] with your preferred role.

If you’re looking for an engaging long read, this article on a 24-hour nature immersion experience is really wonderful.
I can recognise some of my own responses from the nature immersion session I did on my Forest Therapy Guide training. I’m looking forward to introducing Forest Bathing to others when I get myself organised!
Don’t worry, it won’t involve 24 hours on your own by river - a couple of hours relaxing in the forest, followed by a cup of tea and a biscuit!

The long read: My life seemed to be getting busier, faster: I felt constantly short of time – so I stepped outside it for a day and a night and did nothing
