Crail Raceway - 1/8th mile EFWD No Prep
What can i say.....
Set off Saturday in glorious sunshine arrived at the first stop Blackpool for a bit of Chubby Brown laughter before setting off for Scotland . Came out of the theatre to total darkness and pouring rain!! Wonderful in the camper and started the 2nd leg of the journey after a little while we stopped for a couple hrs sleep in the services and onwards we went arriving at Crail Raceway at 8am to be greeted by light rain and the famous North Sea blustery winds.
So lots of catching up with many racers before racing started at 10am.
Very different up here..
Firstly they have a practice track to try and help dial your car into the very slippy and tricky surface.. A great addition we thought!! Then you get on the actual track to soon realise the practice area is way grippier in comparison.
3 qualifiers saw me struggling with grip but i wasn't alone we improved marginally every run!
So 1st round of eliminations as always brings out the real racer and luckily i managed a win but trust me if the track was 10ft longer he would of come around me in his turbo car but we finished door to door but i was ahead..
Semi finals came around but my normally aspirated R32 had nothing for the power of the turbo powered Corsa so it was time to load up for me. Chuffed to have reached the semi finals in the inaugural round of the championship and bag some important points..
Paul Conway took the well deserved win in Bastra his quick little racecar!! Great job.
So in short was it worth the 408 mile journey?? Hell yeah we will be back..
Now looking forward to Round 2 which is a little closer for us English racers only got to travel to Melbourne Raceway in York..
HOONiBuG will be back in the game by then so hopefully we can improve from the semi's?
So thanks Scotland its been a pleasure now for the short trip home...

Another day in the workshop.. Deadline is looming but we will get there the joys of not following the crowds sometimes creates delays with one off parts from USA & Canada but it makes it more fun when it comes together..
Yesterday was a good day which saw the crank back in the block with the new super girdle and oversized bolts. A day involved lots of drilling & taping for all the 20 main bearing threads which should help hold this engine together at the new higher 8500rpm. Then i moved onto the head bolt threads opening those up also to a 12x1.5mm thread to again give me the extra needed clamping force as we plan to introduce the nitrous bottle to the party this season..
So today is starting off with nitrous ring gapping a tedious job but one that really pays back dividends with longevity of the engine build. Then moving onto a bit of porting work on the heads to help it all breathe a little better with the new cam timing mods to help with the high rpm power before they get themselves back in place.
So overall another busy day plus I've gotta MOT Sophie's BMW 330d racecar just after lunch. Also Craig should be in the workshop finishing off the engine replacement on the "Rocco" and engine supplied by VWDRC club sponsor Anglian Dubs so that Sophie Lee Evans can make her rookie debut at Festival of Power Santa Pod.
Which will see Danceys Racing starting the season off with 3 cars with 2 more to be introduced as time moves forward throughout the 2026 season.
