The complete Hitch climber pulley system made in rope. This will be on display as part of project iconic at this year APF forestry show this September at Ragley Hall. Project iconic, is a year long project creating pieces of hardware from the Arboriculture industry all in rope. All the pieces will be raffled off to raise money for my local air ambulance charity Your Local Air Ambulance

The first short use of the new APW 6000 portable winch after training today. Really looking forward to the potential this machine has going on how this preformed. The APW 6000 winch runs on the AP batteries from STIHL . Watch this space for more videos and info.

Part 5, in felling trees over 380mm in diameter. The tree is now on the floor, ready for processing. Highly important to always check the adjacent trees and canopies for hazards and hanging branches which could fall and strike the operator whilst processing the fallen tree. Check the tree for stability before processing, if any hazards are identified make attempts to remove the hazards before processing takes place.

When felling trees over 380mm in diameter it’s often required to remove the buttress roots to get to the trees true diameter and this also helps to get lower stumps. Body position is key for safety and accuracy.

The long awaited APW 6000 battery powered winch from portable winch has arrived. Looking forward to getting out into the forestry and putting the winch through its paces to see what it can do. We know that this model is rated to pull 1500kg in a straight line configuration which sounds really impressive. We had quite a few heavy downpours of rain on Tuesday whilst training, always check your kit to make sure it’s dry, as you can see in the video there is moisture in the bottom of one of the rope bags. Always essential to check for wet equipment and allow a good drying time before storage.
