About Us
Based in the heart of historic Stratford-upon-Avon, our club boasts a proud cricketing history and stunning riverside grounds. We are dedicated to providing the best possible facilities for our diverse membership, ranging from vibrant junior teams to competitive senior squads. The club grounds are the centerpiece of our community life, requiring expert care to remain in top condition.
The Role
This is a high-responsibility role, leading all aspects of ground preparation, maintenance, and upkeep. You will be responsible for ensuring our cricket wickets and surrounding areas are maintained to the highest standards, suitable for recreational play through to top-level league cricket.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing year-round pitch and grounds maintenance programs.
Expert turf management, including irrigation, aeration, fertilization,
Leading the setting up and marking out of all pitches for match play.
Supervision of grounds staff and coordination with contractors (where applicable).
Operation, care, and maintenance of a full range of grounds machinery and equipment.
Ensuring the highest standards of health and safety and environmental practice.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an individual who is not just a skilled grounds person but a true leader in the field. To succeed, you will need:
Significant, demonstrable experience in fine turf management, with a strong focus on cricket grounds.
Relevant formal qualifications in grounds or sports turf management (e.g., Level 2/ 3 upwards).
A meticulous eye for detail and a pride in delivering pristine sports surfaces.
Expertise in operating and maintaining essential turf care machinery.
A strong, positive work ethic and the physical stamina required for a demanding outdoor role.
Great communication skills to liaise with club management, captains, and external suppliers.
A flexible attitude to working hours, understanding the demands of the cricket season.
