History of Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club

It was in 1902 that Mr CL Orr Ewing MP, owner of the Dunskey Estates, realised the possibilities open to Portpatrick and set about the provision of a Golf Course. The Club - Dunskey Golf Club - was opened in April of the following year, 1903, extending to over 100 acres. In 1912 the facility was extended to form what was then a ladies course, a nine-hole,

par 3s, which is now called the DINVIN COURSE ; a fair test for regular and holiday golfers alike. The club is now known as Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club and it celebrated its Centenary in 2003. Since inception, the course and clubhouse have been gradually extended and improved, and a new extension to the clubhouse was completed to mark the Centenary.

⚠️NEW COURSE RECORD ALERT⚠️

Congratulations to Adam Chung, who today etched his name into the history of Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club with a sensational 8-under-par 62, setting a new course record on the Dunskey Course.

Adams’s remarkable round surpasses the previous course record of 63, a mark that had stood for nearly three decades since 1998 and only ever matched on 3 other occasions since.

In producing a flawless display, Adam has become the first player to break the long-standing benchmark, lowering the record by a stroke.

Well the warm weather has finally arrived and we can now play golf until the late evening.
We had a busy day yesterday with ladies matches and Juniors but still able to enjoy millionaires golf with stunning course and views.

Reminder to the members of our annual Dunskey Cup will be taking place on Saturday 23rd May.

Sign up available now on BRS.

This is a Ryder Cup style team event, with the front 9 holes being played as pairs matchplay and the back 9 being played as singles match play.

The Professional Shop will organise the teams and the draw. Tee times will be 8.30am to 9.15am. Entries close at midday on Wednesday.

We get a lot of visitors every year, some returning, some for the 1st time and some in celebration of somone near and dear who is no longer with us.

We have just had an amazing group of 40 drop us a note to say thank you and let us know how their fund raising went.

The event was in memory of Derek Brownlie who was a very close friend to them all who sadly lost his life to cancer after a nine year battle on the 2nd November 2025.

They raised an amazing £2,560 between the forty of them for The Beatson charity who were amazing with Derek and his care.

They plan to make this an annual event at Portpatrick around the same time which we will love to have them back.

Derek and Gerry have played Dunskey for over 30 years and they say it truly is an amazing golf club!........ Derek loved it. 🥰

Thank you so much for sharing this with us and I am sure Derek was there with you all in spirit.
