History of Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club

It was in 1902 that Mr CL Orr Ewing MP, owner of the Dunskey Estates, realised the possibilities open to Portpatrick and set about the provision of a Golf Course. The Club - Dunskey Golf Club - was opened in April of the following year, 1903, extending to over 100 acres. In 1912 the facility was extended to form what was then a ladies course, a nine-hole, par 3s, which is now called the DINVIN COURSE ; a fair test for regular and holiday golfers alike. The club is now known as Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club and it celebrated its Centenary in 2003. Since inception, the course and clubhouse have been gradually extended and improved, and a new extension to the clubhouse was completed to mark the Centenary.

We were delighted to welcome golfing legend Colin Montgomerie for 18 holes today.

Colin was an absolute gent who took the time to chat, sign autographs and pose for photos with everyone.

A real pleasure to have such a legend at Dunskey — a day to remember! 👏🏌️‍♂️

Alan McWilliam Testimonial Golf Day

We’re now less than a week away from celebrating an entire lifetime of dedication to our club from our retiring Head Greenkeeper Alan McWilliam.
On Wednesday 23rd September, there will be an 18 hole stableford event featuring ‘Testing Testimonial Pins’. Alan is selecting 5 holes on the course to feature 5 crazy pin positions – one of his last chances for our membership to criticise his pin placements!! These pins will be rewarded with double points should the golfer wish to play to them.
The golf event will be £5pp entry. Please book your tee time on the BRS booking system as normal.

Collection Tin
There is a collection tin already on the bar and thank you to everyone who has already contributed. If anyone wishes to make a donation who cannot attend in person then please contact Club Secretary Leona Lloyd.

Presentation
At 5pm, on Wednesday 23rd September we will also have a presentation to Alan McWilliam in the clubhouse. It would be fitting to see a full clubhouse as we pay tribute to Alan’s incredible career at Portpatrick Dunskey.

The course was closed on Tuesday for dry sand injection to the greens.
Thanks for the members understanding and as per usual the green staff and volunteers for getting it all done.
We have been very grateful for the amazing greens this year so keeping on top of them is vitally important as the winter season approaches.

Glenda has been at it again winning more trophies with the 2026 Champions Cup.
Dougie will have to build an extension soon to fit them all in.

🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️Nan Cook Mixed Open Results 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

Today we welcomed a full field to our last mixed open of the year with the Nan Cook Trophy being played.

The weather was kinder than the initial forecast, but some heavy showers still didn’t dampen the scores! ☔️

Our winners, by a margin of 4 shots with a fantastic nett score of 62 was Les Baird & Susan Hanlin 🏆👏

Thank you to everyone who participated, and well done to all the prize winners.

A special thanks to Robert & Linda Cook for their continued support to the event, by kindly providing the nearest the pin prizes.

Junior Club Championship Results

We recently played our Junior Club Championship and our congratulations goes to Riley Gratton for his solid round of 72 to secure the championship. 🏆

Riley first won the trophy in 2024 and claimed it back from defending champion Murray Ramsay by a single stoke.
