Well done to Mark Mccolm, Lewis McCulloch and Frazer Taylor who played for Wigtownshire today at West End today in the Hamilton trophy. Unfortunately Wigtownshire lost to Lanarkshire today but all 3 boys won their games👊

Big thanks to the club for supporting today with getting boards marked scores kept and food and drink provided across the day.👌

Looking for a fun, active and completely FREE activity this summer?

Thanks to funding from the Summer of Sport programme, supported by Active Schools Dumfries & Galloway and Dumfries & Galloway Council, West End Bowling Club is delighted to offer a FREE Come and Try Bowls Summer Camp for young people aged 5-26 years.

📅 Dates:
• Monday 13th July
• Wednesday 15th July
• Friday 17th July

⏰ Time:
10:00am – 1:00pm each day

📍 Venue:
West End Bowling Club, Park Lane, Stranraer, DG9 0DY

✅ Completely FREE to attend
✅ FREE packed lunch provided every day
✅ Qualified coaches
✅ All equipment supplied
✅ Open to all abilities
✅ Accessible equipment and adapted wheelchairs available
✅ Learn new skills, make friends and have fun

Participants will enjoy a variety of fun, skill-based games while learning all aspects of bowls, including drawing, driving and reaching. Using exciting coaching equipment such as skittles, cones, target mats, tunnels and scoring challenges, we’ll help everyone discover why bowls is a fantastic sport for all ages.

You’ll also get free access to the club’s green and facilities throughout the camp, and those who catch the bowls bug may even be offered a FREE membership at the end!

🏆 Learn Scotland’s Commonwealth sport and develop your skills with our qualified coaching team.

🍎 Every camp day finishes with a FREE packed lunch and time to relax in the clubhouse.

📢 Places are limited and registration will close once the camp is full.

⚠️ Families registering more than one child must complete a separate form for each participant.

We have enjoyed having Sheuchan School round as always for some taster junior sessions.👏

It’s been nice to see some come along for our better try bowls sessions on Fridays 530-630pm.👊

WEST END CAR CONNECTIONS OPEN PAIRS

Yesterday we held our annual open pairs sponsored by car connections. We had 24 pairs battle it out to win the prize.

Winning the low road tournament was Margaret McGowan and Sandra Campbell, runners up were Andy Fox and Peggy Thomson

Winners of the high road were Wully McKinstry and Kenny Murray, runners up were Lewis McCulloch and Frazer Taylor.

Well done to everyone, a great day of bowling.

Big thanks to the ladies in the kitchen catering for everyone.

Derek and Wully for keeping everyone refreshed behind the bar.

Brian for running the tournament.

All members for raffle donations.

And special shoutout to Allan and Wully for continued work on the green it was running superb yesterday!

Last Week we hosted Kirkcowan for a friendly at our Green. It’s great to see their club growing and back in the bowling scene in Wigtownshire. We wish them all the best this year and look forward to a return leg in Kirkcowan.

All in all we had 38 bowling on the green which is great to see!
