KIRKCOWAN FRIENDLY

Last week we took 21 players over to kirkcowan to have a return of our friendly against the Machars club😎

We had a blast and are so glad to see a thriving return of Kirkcowan bowling club you are doing great work and have got the club going again which is fantastic 👌

Shout out to Liam McDonald, Bruce Shereiffs, Nieve Clive, Bruce McKie and Nathan Mckie all making their debuts for West End BC🥳

West End held our Jenkins Trophy Pairs competition today with a good turn out of members competed throughout the afternoon. Kenny and Fiona were eventual winners beating Matt and Gina in the final. Thank you to all members who took part. In true West End fashion it was an afternoon of good bowls and great banter.

Congratulations to Margaret McGowan, Elaine McMiken and Sandra Campbell, West End 2 who beat Stranraer 1 last night to become Wigtownshire Ladies League Champions for 2026.

The club was saddened to learn the passing of honorary and long standing member Sadie McCrorie. Sadie was an active member of the club for over 40 years and threw our opening jack on our centenary year in 2024.

We send our thoughts with all the family and encourage any friends of Sadie to be aware of her funeral service on Wednesday 26th August, 2026. in Stranraer Parish Church at 1.00 p.m.❤️

24 mixed pairs took the green at West End today to contest our Mixed Pairs competition. Congratulations go to Rab OKeef and Sylvia McHarrie who won after beating Bobby and Maureen McKeand in the final.
Thanks goes to Frazer Hare for kindly sponsoring this Mixed Pairs competition, we really appreciate your support. The trophy was presented by Peggy Thompson a former member of Castle Kennedy BC as on the sad closing of Castle Kennedy BC the club donated the Jock Blackwood Memorial Trophy to West End so this Trophy will now be the West End Mixed Pairs Trophy.
