🎯 Club Competition Day – This Sunday!

Exciting news, archers! Our first club competition day (finally!) is happening this Sunday, just as outlined in the newsletter. It's a chance to experience the buzz of friendly competition in a supportive environment—ideal for both seasoned members and newcomers.

🏹 What to Expect:
- Run just like a proper comp with advice and guidance throughout
- Part of Metric Month – rounds to suit every ability
- Assembly at 10AM (morning) and 1:30PM (afternoon) for kit inspection, round briefing, and a uniform start by 10:30AM/2PM

📏 Available Rounds:
- Most metric rounds = 3 dozen arrows at 2 distances
- Long metrics on 122cm faces, short metrics on 80cm
- Possible 6-doz rounds if bosses are available

🌟 New to the Club?
Don’t be shy! Short metric rounds (15m & 10m) are absolutely beginner-friendly.

😌 Not feeling competitive this time?
The training range will still be open for a more casual shoot.

GVA First Clout Shoot yesterday evening using the Golf Driving Range – 16 club members participated – one without a bow so shot pictures instead – shared yesterday thanks Andres.

Two distances available with flags at 140 and 180 yards – quite a cross wind so low scoring clout after six ends – with the Men’s 180y won by Norman top score of 14 with Wayne one point behind on 13. The ladies on 140y won by Teresa on 10 and runner up was Dawn on 2. Although a lot of Dawns arrows were in the 180y zone! So could have won that if they counted!

Lovely sunny evening and positive feedback. Arrows lost – none a first for the club in recent clout shoots. Mentioning no names!
Thanks to all that attended and of course Duncan for letting us use the driving range after the centre closed. As has been said the club is fortunate to be able to offer, target, field, and clout all in one place.

Start Archery - Sunday 7th May and Monday 8th May

As you know the club will be supporting Archery GB’s annual event again this year, now in its 11th year. A great chance to promote archery and our club. We will be providing free “Have a go” sessions of about an hour over the Sunday and Monday of the Kings Coronation weekend. Please understand normal club shooting will ONLY be possible on Sunday afternoon from 2pm.

However, the club does need your help to run the event over the two days and would appreciate any time you can give to help make this a success. There are a number of tasks that need to be covered from booking in to kitting out, to training and cooking and a number of others. The most important aspect however is to be an ambassador for archery and make everyone welcome and help them enjoy their experience with us.

Due to parking and managing throughput we have limited the numbers to about eight people every half hour. With the opportunity to shoot for up to an hour. Participants won’t be collecting arrows, but they will have normal safety training and will shoot at normal targets, fun targets as well as 3D animals.

Please, please, please give your club any time you can to help support this annual event. Let Alan [email protected] know what day(s), what time(s), for how long and any particular area you wish to help with.
