The story of how your chosen cleft gets to the weight. So this is for a customer who wanted it to FINISH 2lb 9oz to 2lb 10oz. The part made cleft and handle started at 2lb 13.4oz. After removing wood from the toe of the bat to start the shaping it was 2lb 12.4. Next was removing the excess cane from the handle after fitting and this took it to 2.10.4 next was shoulder and handle shaping which went to 2.9.2. Now I moved onto taking wood from the back and reducing spine to keep a full shape and getting it to a point that I know what it’s going to finish to and how big it can be, this case is a 34mm max edge and we are 2lb 7.1oz at this stage. Sanding through the 3 stages and hand sanding gets it to 2lb 6.7. Now the diet is over and we start to increase the scale weight. Binding the handle takes it to 2lb 7.2oz a single Enkay grip and it’s 2lb 8.4oz stickers takes it to 2lb 9oz exactly and the scuff and edge tape mean we finish at 2lb 9.5oz
