The club was formed in 1989, for the purpose of introducing riders to one of the safest forms of motorcycle sport – Trials. This is a test of balance and control rather than speed so injuries are rare. It is a real family sport with dads and mums bringing their sons (and daughters) to practice and ride in organised events. The club was started by the founder Steve Burdett and a small committee, using land either side of the M69 with the permission of Calor Gas who owned the land at that time. The club continued to grow and attract riders from all over Leicestershire and neighbouring counties. Over the past 15 years we have realised that the availability of land for motorcycle trials use is extremely limited and unless land is owned by the club itself then our continued use can never be guaranteed. In 2005 we were able to purchase the piece of land on the Calor Gas site of the M69 tunnel with assistance from the ACU, the sport’s governing body, to whom we are affiliated. In addition we took out 3rd party liability insurance and were granted planning permission to use the land (including the piece on the Earl Shilton side of the M69) as a trials ground. Over the years we have developed the ground we own using rocks to support the hill and combat erosion.

Busy at the ground today with a training session, but we have managed to get 10 cracking sections plus a conducted route.
Max Clark ran the conducted route for many years and most of our young adult riders today started out under the gentle approach that Max portrayed 🙏

Yesterday all 4 registered club members completed the famous mintex time and observation trial. Referred to as a “Mini Scott Trial” the kids took on 60 sections and nearly 50 miles of moorland and streams
🟢Aaron Watson came home in 24th place overall, his best finish to date, his vertigo ran faultlessly all day.
🔵George Wareing, the youngest competitor on the day at just 12 years old finished in 32nd place, exactly 1hr40 behind the fastest rider on the day. A great start with many years left to ride this event.
🔴Ralph Ayres was riding alongside George for most of the first lap but arrived at fuel stop 3 with a rear puncture. Several parents dived in to help and get him back up and running but loosing around 15 minutes. He kept calm and finished in 36th place
🟡Jack Rich dug deep and kept battling the sections to complete the course. Unfortunately Jack was 24 minutes over the 2&1/2 hours the riders get after the fastest rider arrives but now has the knowledge and experience to get that finish next year.

Practice member Zac Ellway was going well but an unfortunate mechanical caused an early retirement. With this trial you need speed, skill and a lot of luck.

*TrialGB Youth Round 5 & 6*
The team battled hard this weekend at a great venue hosted by Guisborough & District Motor Club.

George riding in the top class battled hard all weekend to secure 5th on day 1 and day two only dropping a total of 18 secured one better and finished 4th.

Daisy went 2nd on day one and then went on to take the win on day 2 with some excellent rides on some tricky sections but stuck to her game to secure the win.

James only dropping 3 points on day 1 but despite the low score only came away with 5th place. On day 2 he came away with a podium finish taking 3rd place.

Boden stuck with the pack on day 1 and came away with 11th and battled hard on day two to better the position and came away with 7th not far behind the podium at all!

As if they hadn’t expelled enough energy during the trial Daisy and George found some more to chase a chicken round. 😂

Well done to all of our riders and good luck in the final round in the Isle of Man.
