At some point, the language starts to change.

"I used to be able to do that."

"My running days are behind me."

"I couldn't possibly lift that."

"I'm too old to start CrossFit."

And slowly, without even realising it, we start putting boundaries around what we believe our bodies are capable of.

Of course, getting older can change how we train.

We might need different loads, different movements, more recovery or a different approach.

**But different doesn't mean incapable.**

Your body can still learn.

It can still adapt.

It can still become stronger.

And you might be surprised by what happens when you're surrounded by coaches who meet you where you are and help you build from there.

We see people discover new capabilities at CrossFit Stonehouse all the time.

Not because we're trying to make everyone train like they're 25.

But because we refuse to assume that getting older means you should stop challenging yourself.

Don't decide what your body can't do before you've given it the opportunity to show you what it CAN do.

Think you're too old for CrossFit?

We'd love to challenge that idea.

Do we want you to get fitter, stronger and more resilient?

100% That’s our mission.

Do we also want you to laugh, dress up, make memories and have fun along the way?

Absolutely!

Because training doesn’t have to be miserable to be effective.

We take your health and fitness seriously.

Ourselves? Slightly less so.

FITNESS GIVES YOU OPTIONS.

We often think about getting fitter in terms of what happens inside the gym.

Lifting more.

Running faster.

Learning new skills.

But perhaps one of the greatest things fitness gives you is something much simpler:

Choice.

The choice to say yes to the hike.

To carry your child when they're tired.

To try something new without immediately wondering whether you're fit enough.

To book the active holiday.

To spend the day exploring.

To keep doing the things you love as you get older.

Because ultimately, we're not training just to become better at working out.

We're training to build bodies that allow us to participate fully in our own lives.

And that's what all those squats, carries, runs, pulls and pushes are really preparing you for.

More strength.

More capacity.

More independence.

More options.

Train so that when life asks, "Are you up for it?"

Your body lets you say:

YES.

Want to start building a fitter, stronger body for life?

Meet Mat.

Remember Katie’s story? We wouldn’t be able to tell it without Mat walking through our doors first.

When we met him six years ago, he was fed up with how he felt and how he looked.

Fast forward to today and you’d barely recognise that version of him.

His journey hasn’t been smooth. During one of the hardest periods of his life, while Katie was recovering from a brain aneurysm, Mat still kept showing up.

That one hour in the gym gave him a little escape. A bit of normality. Somewhere to switch off, train and be around people.

Over the years he’s built some brilliant friendships, discovered that he’s actually ridiculously strong (our Strongman champion) and continues to learn new skills even after six years.

And he’s done all of that with a far-from-perfect training schedule, juggling work, family life and childcare.

That’s what we love about Mat’s story.

It’s not about having the perfect routine. It’s about keeping something in your life that makes you stronger, happier and more resilient.

And on top of all that, Mat is simply one of the most solid humans you could meet.

If we were allowed favourites… he’d definitely be up there 🤫

Want to join a community made up of genuinely great people?

Come and meet us at our Intro Class every Saturday at 8am. ❤️

THIS IS WHAT THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT CAN DO.

Being a coach doesn't mean you've mastered every movement.

We can understand the mechanics, teach the progressions, spot what needs changing and help someone else work towards a skill...

while still being on the journey ourselves.

Our very own Coach Lorea is the perfect example.

Going into our latest Interbox Comp, she'd only ever managed one bar muscle-up before.

She knew the movement.

The strength was there.

The work had been done.

And then something amazing happened...

She started hitting BMUs. 🔥🙌

Sometimes, you need something else to unlock what's already there.

The right environment.

People around you believing you can do it.

Someone giving you that one cue.

A little adrenaline.

And suddenly...

it clicks.

That's one of the things we love most about CrossFit.

Even as coaches, we're still learning. Still progressing. Still chasing our own goals and discovering what we're capable of.

And that's exactly the environment we want to create for you every week at CrossFit Stonehouse.

Your first pull-up.

Your first box jump.

Your first handstand.

A lift you never thought you'd hit.

Your first BMU.

Whatever YOUR win looks like, we're here to help you work towards it.

Because sometimes, you're far more capable than you realise.

You just need the right environment to unlock it. 💚

Ready to see what you're capable of?

Hanya wanted to try CrossFit for a long time. The hardest part was walking through the door.

Her anxiety kept telling her she wouldn’t be good enough.

That CrossFit was for really fit people.

That it wasn’t for someone who felt unfit or overweight.

So before she joined, there were lots of messages back and forth with Netty, lots of reassurance, and eventually one big leap.

She came in.

And she hasn’t looked back.

Hanya quickly discovered that nobody was judging her. The coaches met her where she was, supported her, adapted things when needed and helped her build confidence one session at a time.

Now CrossFit is a regular part of her life.

She trains, gets stronger, challenges herself, laughs with the people around her and, in her own words, “CrossFit keeps me sane.”

That’s why stories like Hanya’s matter.

Sometimes the biggest transformation starts long before the first workout.

It starts when you stop listening to the voice telling you that you’re not good enough and give yourself a chance to find out what you’re capable of.

We’re very glad Hanya took that leap. ❤️

MORE isn't always BETTER.

There's a belief in fitness that if you're not completely wrecked after a workout, you haven't worked hard enough.

We don't believe that.

There's a big difference between doing enough to create a positive adaptation and doing as much as your body can possibly tolerate.

Professional athletes may need huge training volumes because training is their job.

For most of us, it isn't.

We have work to get to.

Kids to look after.

Stress to manage.

Dinner to make.

Sleep that isn't always perfect.

And all of those things affect how well we recover.

Good training takes that into account.

Yes, there is absolutely a time to dig deep, push the intensity and find out what you're made of. 🔥

But you don't need to leave every session completely broken for it to be effective.

Train. Recover. Adapt. Repeat.

Because the goal isn't to survive today's workout.

It's to build a stronger, fitter, healthier body that can keep showing up tomorrow.

That's smart training.

And that's what good coaching is there to help you do. 💚

Curious about CrossFit but worried it's "too intense" for you?

Come and see what it's actually about.

This is CrossFit.

Learning a new skill.

Lifting something heavy.

Turning up in fancy dress and laughing through a workout.

Training while your children watch — or join in.

Starting in your 60s and discovering just how much your body is still capable of.

They might all look completely different.

But they’re all happening under the same roof.

Different ages. Different goals. Different versions.

All CrossFit.

And that’s exactly why it works. ❤️

We celebrate the PBs.

The heavier lifts.

The first pull-up.

The faster workout.

But some of the best progress happens quietly.

It's when you pick something heavy up and realise it didn't feel heavy.

When you run up the stairs without getting out of breath.

When you spend the whole day on your feet and still have energy that evening.

When something that used to feel difficult suddenly... doesn't.

That's the kind of fitness we're interested in.

Because your hour in the gym should make the other 23 hours of your day better.

Stronger for the everyday.

Fitter for the unexpected.

Capable for whatever life throws your way.

That's what we're building at CrossFit Stonehouse. 💚

Curious about CrossFit but not sure it's for you?

Come and find out.

Forget the fitness influencers for a minute.

Alex and Kamala have been part of CrossFit Stonehouse since the early days, and they are two of our most consistent members.

They could easily train in our 60+ class, but they choose to come to regular CrossFit sessions, where they continue to learn, adapt and improve year after year.

Kamala has worked through some serious injuries, but she has never stopped moving. She adapts, keeps showing up and still manages to test coach Netty’s patience on a regular basis. 😄 She brings a huge amount of fun to every class.

Alex is a brilliant example of how to approach training for the long term.

He takes his time learning new skills. He doesn’t get dragged along by what everyone else is doing. Ego doesn’t make the decisions.

He listens, asks questions, practises and waits until he’s ready.

And that approach keeps paying off.

It’s easy to follow someone online because they look fit today.

But perhaps the better question is:

Will your training help you be this capable, healthy, curious and youthful in your 60s and beyond?

Because that’s the kind of fitness we’re interested in building. ❤️
