🏆🏆🏆HANDICAP TROPHY 🏆🏆🏆

It's been a busy weekend at the club. 🥳
On Friday we saw the conclusion of the Handicap Trophy. ⛳
Michael Wood took a 7 shot lead heading into the final round so it looked like it was his to lose!

Played in the usual Stonehaven gale, conditions were testing to say the least. Although the wind did ease slightly towards the end. 💨
Michael held his nerve to post a very respectable nett 70 in the final round to win by 7 shots from Neil Irvine who himself posted the round of the evening with a nett 66. 👏
Well done Michael, can you continue your fine form with the Club Championship only a few weeks away?🥳

Our brand new 13th hole has been in play now for 8 weeks and already proving to be a bit more difficult than the yardage would suggest, but not for Rudi Taylor. During the 2nd round of the Gents Handicap Trophy last Sunday, Rudi recorded his first ever hole in one on our new hole. Congratulations to Rudi from everyone at the club.

Our official ribbon cutting ceremony to open the new hole is taking place this Sunday 31st May where key individuals involved in the project will join our 13th Hole Sponsor Scott James & Associates and Special Guest Sam Locke.

Please find below planned timeline where ALL members are welcome to come along and spectate.

13th Opening Ceremony
•Meet at club from 08:30 onwards for tea/coffee and introduction from the Club Captain.
•Approx 09:15 walk down to 13th hole for the opening ceremony.
•Look Out! Opening Ceremony 09:30.
•Unveiling of a Thank You Plaque for those who have contributed to the planning, construction and development of our new 13th hole.
•Ribbon Cutting with Club Captain Chris Taylor, 13th Hole Sponsor Scott James & Associates and our Special Guest Sam Locke.
•Sam will host a short “Beat The Pro” session to show us all how it’s really meant to be done.
•Ian Wood will be present with his camera and drones to help us capture the event and publish content after the event.
•Head back to clubhouse by around 10:30

We look forward to welcoming everyone on Sunday morning to officially open the new hole and mark this significant milestone in our club’s 138 year history.

⛳⛳⛳HANDICAP TROPHY AFTER ROUND 3⛳⛳⛳

With the 3rd round now complete, Michael Wood has now extended his lead to 7 shots with another superb sub par score of 64. 👏
Well played Michael, the Match Committee may have to meet this evening before the 4th and final round as it would seem that playing off 4 is far too high.😜

Score of the evening went to Brian Davie with a nett 63 to move him into 2nd place and into contention. 💥

Thankfully the haar stayed away last night and we will be hoping that this is the case for the final round tomorrow evening. 😎

⛳️⛳️⛳️GENTS HANDICAP TROPHY - AFTER ROUND 2⛳️⛳️⛳️

Well, where do we start with the past weekend! 😮

It was always going to happen but we recorded the 1st hole in one at the new 13th, Lookout! 👏
Well done to Rudi Taylor and thanks to his playing partner, Damien Shine for the pictures. 💥

Standings after round 2 of the Handicap Trophy can also be seen which doesn't tell half the story.
Michael Wood leads the way by 1 shot from ex-club champion Craig Irvine.
Michael holed his 2nd shot at the difficult par 4 11th on his way to a nett 62.👏
Craig equaled the new course record of 63 (pictured) set by Ross McCallan a few weeks ago. 💥
Well played gents and all to play for on Wednesday.

Rounds 3 & 4 are due to be played on Wednesday and Friday this week.
It's set up to be a cracker!😁

🥰🥰🥰APPRECIATION POST🥰🥰🥰

This is just a wee post to thank you all for following our page. 🫶
We have reached the milestone of 2000 followers this week which is quite frankly phenomenal for a wee club in the NE of Scotland. 😲

Over the past 5 months we have gained over 100 followers from across the world with nearly 100 now following from USA and around 50 following from Australia. 👏

Thanks for being here and we hope that you continue to like what we post.🥳

⛳⛳⛳LADIES SCOTTISH GOLF QUALIFIER⛳⛳⛳

Three ladies, Christina Kirkwood, Jayne Thurley and Fiona Currie (pictured from left to right) qualified for this year’s Scottish Golf Medal Final by having the best 3 nett Medal rounds at the club last season. 🥳

In favourable conditions, the ladies enjoyed playing in the area final today at Kintore Golf Club with Fiona managing to qualify for the Grand Final at Gullane later this summer. 👏

Well done Fiona and go and smash it in the final. 💥

⛳⛳⛳FRIENDS OF ANCHOR MIXED STABLEFORD⛳⛳⛳

Saturday say our annual mixed stableford for charity take place.
This year our chosen charity was Friends of Anchor.🥰
The ANCHOR Unit (Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy) is a collective of specialised wards and clinics within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. It is the central hub of cancer and haematology care for the north of Scotland.🏥https://friendsofanchor.org/

One individual stood out from the rest on Saturday.
Technically a new course record as we now have the new 13th hole, Look Out! in play.
Ross McCallan rolled back the years (he's only 32!) to shoot a gross 63 including 5 birdies. 🥳
With it being stableford he was a clear winner by 5points. 😁
Well played Ross, handicap now back to where it should be. 👏

⛳️⛳️⛳️US MASTERS TEXAS SCRAMBLE - RESULTS⛳️⛳️⛳️

Yesterday we saw 35 teams (140 entrants) take to the course for a chance to win the event and make it to the grand final later on in the year.🏆

Played in decent conditions (well, decent for Stonehaven) the scoring did reflect the weather!🥳

Prize winners can be seen in the images below. 🏆
Well done to Stewart's Scramblers who won the event with a nett 52.5 and will now be heading to the grand final at Pumperston in September. 👏

There was some questionable team names entered on the day. 🤔
