Stone Rugby Club wrapped up the 25/26 season on a high, signing off with an impressive win over 3rd place Lichfield. A strong way to finish and a clear marker of the progress made over the season.
Building on last year’s 8th place finish, the team climbed the table to finish joint 4th, level on points with Uttoxeter.
The improvement across the season is clear. More wins, fewer losses, and a noticeable step up in consistency throughout the squad. The team looked far more dangerous with ball in hand, with the attack clicking far more regularly and producing a much stronger overall points return. Defensively there was also a clear improvement, with the side looking harder to break down and more resilient across the season.
Of course, all stats are courtesy of Nick, so they are absolutely, unquestionably, 100% accurate and beyond dispute.
All in all, a season of real progress and a strong platform to build on going forward.
Looking ahead, the league is only going to get tougher. Four teams finished on 13 wins this season, and with some strong sides expected to come down from above, next year is shaping up to be a proper challenge and a genuine title race. Exactly the sort of environment we want to be competing in.
Thank you to everyone who had any sort of involvement with the club this year. Opponents, supporters, volunteers, coaches & of course our club sponsors. None of this could happen without you.
We take a few weeks rest before our summer touch sessions start & we ease into pre season.
