Hi everyone! 👋

Just a quick update: Nunthorpe has let us know they are dropping out of the league.

Because of this, we’re holding a meeting next Monday at 7:15 PM at the sports club to chat about our format for the season and how we move forward.

We do need all captains (or a team rep) to attend so every team has a say, but all other players are more than welcome to come along too!

Winter is coming, which means it’s nearly time for Tuesday night pool... but only if there's enough demand!

I was talking to Eddie last night, and It's been super quiet on replies recently, so we need a firm YES from captains, venues, and players. Are you up for it this season?

John Banks funeral service is at Teesside Crematorium, St Hilda's Chapel on Thursday 2nd July 2026 at 1:30 pm, All welcome at Great Ayton Cricket Club afterwards. St Hilda's Chapel, casual dress including football shirts (except Spurs).

Stokesley Pool League pays tribute to John Banks, a respected player, league title winner and multiple Doubles Knockout champion who sadly passed away on Tuesday evening.

Remembering John Banks

We are very saddened to hear of John Banks's passing on Tuesday evening.

John was part of the Stokesley Pool League for many years and was a familiar face to players across the league. I had the pleasure of playing alongside him, where he helped win league titles for several teams and lifted the Doubles Knockout trophy on multiple occasions.

Those achievements tell part of the story, but anyone who knew John will remember him as much for the laughs, the banter and the company as for anything he did on the pool table. He was always good to have around and played the game in the right spirit.

The message from his family that he "had a great time with you all" says a lot about what the league means and the friendships made along the way. It's something we can all take pride in.

On behalf of everyone involved with the Stokesley Pool League, our thoughts are with John's family and friends at this sad time.

Thank you for the memories, John.

Rest in peace.
