Statistics for 2025

79 people chose to cross with us, 10 in a mixed group and 1 private crossing had to be cancelled because of the fire.

6 of this years walkers have booked with us again for 2026, the fastest being Eley who booked with 12 hours of finishing her crossing in August.

The youngest was 14 and the eldest 74.

The unluckiest walker was Liz Barrett who’s first crossing this year was cut short because it was too hot and her second cancelled because of the fire.

Our dates for 2026 are on our website.

It’s a non refundable deposit of £50 pp with the balance to be paid 6 weeks before you walk. We’re holding our prices at £110 for next year.

We meet at 0400, minibus to the opposite end of the walk and we walk back.

* FREE training walks with Yorkshire Walks - just a few more miles! You don’t have to cross with us to join the training walks.

* 3 check points with snacks and unlimited Compeed plasters.

* You can book with us directly or via SiEntries, we won’t charge you a premium for paying online.

* Once you’ve crossed with us you can do so again as many times as you want FREE but not necessarily with transport and subject to availability.

* All our guides are appropriately qualified and exceptionally experienced.

A fantastic crossing yesterday with a magnificent group. E-W

Everything was perfect. The weather was warm but not too hot with a cooling breeze. The ground conditions remain the best I’ve seen in a few years and we finished in under 16 hours, my fastest crossing this year.

Andrew, Cath, Kelly, Kevin, Shaun, Ralph and Eley thank you so much for your company, humour, grit and determination. I look forward to crossing with you all again…..

Please, please, please look at the video at the end of Cath Williamson making her way upstairs after the walk last night, that epitomises long distance walking 🤣😂🤣

A very, very good day . Condolences on your crossing.

Started a W-E crossing with the lovely Liz Barrett at 0500 yesterday 11.7 with the dog joining us to Clay Bank.

An early dynamic risk assessment when we found cattle with calf, lots of them in the field leading down to the ford and Hollin Hill. We met a couple doing the CW and went down as a group and found ourselves in a standoff with a couple of large Highland cows and decided to detour 1.5 miles.

Up Round Hill and onto the moor with not a hint of a breeze and the heat steadily mounting.

After our first CP at Clay Bank we decided that we’d proceed to Blakey Ridge and assess how we were feeling about the heat, it was blistering and the lack of breeze intensified the relentless furnace.

At Blakey Ridge Den had brought us frozen towels and ice blocks to put our bare feet on, a delight and joy, and we made the decision to call it there.

We could have continued but it would have been utterly miserable and potentially dangerous, Liz is crossing with me again in August and let’s hope it’s cooler.

The weather is set to be hot for the next few weeks, I’ve got water stashed on Wheeldale moor message me and I’ll give you the coordinates .

North Yorkshire has no business being this hot!
