A slight chance of record breaking temperatures early next week across the south of the UK.

Something more muted but still very warm to hot, north to south, is more likely but this risk needs watching in the coming days.

A significant heatwave develops across southern and Central Europe through this week, with the UK on the boundary between these hot conditions and much cooler conditions to the northwest.

Fronts along that boundary will bring cloud and rain at times, especially across the north and west of the UK, but there will be some drier and brighter conditions which will be most frequent in the south and east.

It will be very warm to hot for south eastern areas of the UK, reaching the high twenties and at times the low 30s in the hottest spots, but cooler further north and west.

A small chance that the more significant heat over the near continent affects parts of the UK early next week, but high uncertainty with an equal split between that and somewhat fresher (but likely still warm) conditions.

Warming up but no heatwave.

It turns more settled and warmer for most this weekend into next week. Temperatures above average in the south and closer to average in the north, so warmer than of late. More in the way of dry and bright conditions., too, but less settled conditions affecting northern areas at times.

It may turn generally cooler and less settled again through next week, but southern areas perhaps hanging onto some warmth and generally drier conditions. A fair bit of uncertainty surrounding this currently.

Month of 2 halves.

June has so far seen a lot of unsettled and rather cool conditions, and this continues for the next few days. A westerly flow bringing in showers and longer spells of rain, interspersed by drier and brighter conditions.

All change by the weekend as high pressure builds in, bringing more settled conditions and an increase in temperatures. Potentially turning hot in the south. The far northwest continuing to be at risk of some less settled conditions at times.

Welcome to the start of meteorological summer!

We begin on an unsettled and cooler note, which looks set to continue for at least the first week of June.

Temperatures in excess of 30’C across South western areas today. The hottest day of this spell for some places there. It extends to 5 the number of days in a row in which 30’C has been recorded in the UK.

Tomorrow, the core of the heat shifts back eastwards. Low 30s across southeastern areas but very warm everywhere away from windward coasts.
