Top course, top club, top team!

Always a pleasure to host England Golf 🏌️‍♂️

One down, two to go! ✅

Our in-house greens drainage programme began again this week, with the 16, 5th and 13th next on the list to install traditional pipe drainage into all our push-up greens. ⛳️

The greens team worked quite brilliantly, despite the torrential rain yesterday morning, to get the 16th ticked off. 🪏

Back to focussing on the course for the remainder of the week before we go again next Monday! 🥵

Outstanding achievement once again from young Alfie Turner in yesterday’s Trentham Punch Bowl.
With the course playing long after heavy overnight rain, tricky pin positions and tournament set up, Alfie navigated the course for a superb 70, 69 total of 139 to win by 4 shots from Kibworth’s Richard Wale
Trentham Golf Club are very proud of you Alfie! 🏌️‍♂️ ⭐️ 🏆

An outstanding achievement on completing the set Alfie. Your dedication to the game is something truly inspirational for young, aspiring golfers across the county. 👏

John Slaughter Trophy Champion — and the Staffordshire Slam completed.

At just 15 years old, Alfie Turner - Trentham Golf Club has achieved something truly extraordinary. By winning the John Slaughter Trophy – Boys Matchplay, he has now secured every major Staffordshire honour across both Junior and Men’s categories.

This is the full Staffordshire Slam — a feat rarely seen, and almost unheard of at his age.

Alfie’s season has been defined by composure, maturity, and a competitive edge well beyond his years. To capture the county’s biggest titles so early in his career is a remarkable statement of talent and determination.

Huge congratulations, Alfie. A phenomenal achievement and a moment that will be remembered in Staffordshire golf for a long time. 👏👏👏

Summer 2026 is not over yet but it’s certainly one that will stick in the memory for all those turf managers out there. 😣
Despite the relentless heat and severe lack of rainfall, the course continues to receive unprecedented praise from members and visitors alike. 🙌
Special mention to greenkeeper Steve for the drone pics and to all the greenstaff working in these extremely challenging conditions. Keep applying the sunscreen team!! 😎
