Amen to this wisdom. 🙏
Nutrition is medicine. Balance is everything. 🌿✨
Listen to your body.

Simple examples….Magnesium deficiency → cramps, poor sleep, anxiety, constipation
Iron deficiency → fatigue, weakness, dizziness
Iodine deficiency → thyroid imbalance, cysts, hormonal issues
Vitamin D deficiency → low immunity, bone pain, low mood
B12 deficiency → brain fog, tingling, exhaustion
Zinc deficiency → low immunity, slow healing, skin problems
… to name a few?!

Dr. Linus Pauling, a pioneer in the field of science and health, made a groundbreaking claim: every disease and ailment can be traced to a deficiency in essential minerals. His profound work emphasizes the importance of minerals in supporting the body’s immune system, energy, and overall functionality. Pauling’s dedication to understanding the role of nutrition and minerals in health led him to advocate for the power of vitamins and minerals in preventing illness.

Mineral deficiencies can cause a range of health issues, from weakened bones to lower energy levels and impaired brain function. Pauling’s research proved that proper nutrition is more than just a way to fuel our bodies – it's critical for maintaining optimal health. He argued that taking supplements of the right minerals could be the key to preventing common diseases.

Pauline’s message is especially important today, as many people are unaware of the vital role minerals play in overall wellness. By addressing deficiencies early, we can drastically improve our quality of life and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. It’s time to give more attention to what we put into our bodies and ensure we're getting the minerals that support long-term health. 🌱💡

🍂 Twisted Roots 🍂
As the autumn leaves swirl and the guinea fowls scratch amongst the golden rustle outside, we gather here at Chandelier Studio to root, spiral, and reconnect with the earth beneath us.

Twisted Roots of Yin Yoga — one of the many variations of the archetypal twist — as shared in my Yin Yoga 120-hour RYT Training Manual.

In Twisted Roots, we spiral gently through the body — awakening the spine, massaging the organs, and releasing stagnant energy. This nourishing twist stimulates the gallbladder meridian, as we stretch through the gluteals and iliotibial bands, restoring balance and vitality.

Energetically, we awaken the lower chakras, rooting into safety and creative flow, while expanding into the light of the heart as the twist unfolds through the thoracic spine — where movement meets breath and body meets spirit.

Here, surrounded by autumn’s still beauty, we return to our natural rhythm — grounded, spacious, and free. 🍁

Once upon a time, fascia was severely underestimated.

Previously thought of as basically just packing material, protecting our more important structures, it's now known that fascia plays a vital role in movement, immune function, and is our largest bodily organ, with the greatest capacity for sensation.

Join me this Sunday for a nourishing Yin Yoga session as we gently connect to the moments of glimmer—joy, gratitude, and happiness.

In our third week exploring the Limitless Abodes – Matters of the Heart, we’ll dive into Mudhita—Empathetic Joy. Together, we’ll reflect on the beauty of celebrating others’ happiness as our own, guided by the heart-opening practices of Yin Yoga.

This is part of our ongoing Sunday Online Gatherings with Insight Yoga Institute, inspired by Sarah and Ty Powers.

Sign up now using the link below—I’d love to see you there!

Yin Yoga Pose of the Day

Approach yoga for its functionality not the aesthetic!
Great post from YIntelligence
“In Open Wing, the target arm does not need to be in line with the shoulder.

The functional objective is to simply find an appropriate amount of tension in the inner arm and the chest. For some people this means positioning the arm higher - and for others, the arm will be lower.

There are no aesthetical alignment rules here - in a functional approach we focus on function, over form.”

According to Stephen Porges the Polyvagal theory states the nervous system has three branches or rungs on a ladder.

1) Ventral Vagal: in this state we are calm, collected, we learn well, socialise with grace, engage in life and are more intuitive. Our heart rate and blood pressure are normal and our muscles are relaxed. This is The Tao, the middle path

2) Flight or Flight. Here we are uptight, perceive threat, are anxious, agitated, angry and primed for action. Adrenaline and cortisol is flooding our system preparing us to survive. Our blood pressure and heart rate increase. These are yang type responses to life.

3) Dorsal vagal. This is when we shut down, freeze, disconnect, have depression, feel numb, ashamed, hopeless, passive and withdrawn. We want to conserve our energy. Our blood pressure drops alot along with our heart rate, as if we are going in to hibernation. Our muscles are limp and we detach from the world.

The goal of yoga is to balance our states and to shine a light on our overly yang tendencies and softly draw us away from the places in our body and heart where we have shut down or protected.
If we are aware of our state we can practice the medicine to bring equanimity back in to our nervous systems.

Stimulating or bringing attention to the Vagal Nerve highway is a potent way to usher balance back into our life.

I'd love you to join me on Monday for a journey through the vagus nerve where we will sing, massage, compress and stretch the pathways opening our selfs up to feelings of ease, contentment and balance.
