Three months into my Jamaica adventure I’ve been reflecting on my 2025 so far. As most of you know I spent the Christmas period in the UK packing for Jamaica and not long after arriving here I then also got to spend a few weeks in Florida - both amazing experiences, but it’s not always been easy, trying to settle into somewhere new and very different to the UK. I’m definitely finding my groove though - meeting new people, exploring the island and finding my feet fitness-wise and getting into a new routine with this has helped massively.

“Hello lovely people”!

I haven’t disappeared—I’m just currently navigating the wildest chapter of my life! I’ve moved to a new country, and let me tell you, it makes central London traffic look like a zen retreat. They drive on all sides of the road here—no rules, just pure chaos! Crossing the street feels like a high-intensity workout mixed with a real-life game of “Dodge the Car.”

On top of that, I’m juggling money conversions, culture shocks, life logistics, and running my online fitness coaching business—oh, and keeping track of my three phones like I’m running an international spy operation.

But don’t worry! The amazing family I’m staying with has made me feel so at home. They’ve been super lovely and are a massive support, which has made this whole adventure so much easier to handle.

I’ll be back next week once I’ve fully settled (and figured out how to cross the road without needing a full insurance policy). Miss you all and can’t wait to be back coaching you soon!” 😘

YOU feel like you’re doing everything “RIGHT” but still aren’t seeing the results you want, you may be falling into some common traps I often come across:

👍 Overeating the “Healthy” Stuff: Even nutritious foods like nuts and dried fruits can pack a calorie punch if you’re not careful. And free-pouring cooking oils? That can easily add an extra 400 calories to your meal without you realizing it.

🫵 Calorie-Loaded Beverages: Drinks like your morning latte, energy drinks, alcohol, or even “healthy” shakes can sneak in loads of extra calories and sugar. Plus, chewing solid foods not only burns more calories but also signals to your brain that you’re full—something beverages just can’t do as effectively.

👉 Skipping Protein: Protein isn’t just filling; it’s thermogenic, meaning it burns more calories during digestion. It’s also highly satiating, which can help you naturally eat less and avoid snacking out of boredom or habit.

🫸 Neglecting Sleep and Recovery: Poor sleep disrupts your hunger and stress hormones, lowers energy levels, and can lead to eating more while moving less. Quality rest is just as important as diet and exercise!

🤚 Not Drinking Enough Water: Hydration is essential for every metabolic process in your body. Without enough water, your metabolism can slow, waste elimination is less efficient, and you might mistake thirst for hunger.

👍 Overdoing Cardio: Too much intense cardio can raise cortisol levels, cause inflammation, and leave you exhausted—all of which make proper recovery even more critical.

👊 Not Getting Enough Fiber: Fiber is a game-changer for satiety and curbing cravings. Plus, fruits and veggies are low-calorie but packed with nutrients, making them ideal for volume eating.

🫱 Falling for Diet Trends: Consistency is the real key to success. Instead of jumping from one fad to the next, stick with a balanced, sustainable approach that works for you.

Time to Prioritize Your Fitness Routine

As summer winds down and the kids head back to school, many parents find themselves with a bit more time in their day. It’s the perfect opportunity to focus on your own well-being and establish a consistent fitness routine.

1. Use the School Schedule to Your Advantage
With a set schedule in place, you can plan your workouts around drop-off and pick-up times. Whether it’s a morning jog after the kids are on the bus or a yoga session before pick-up, the school day offers pockets of time to dedicate to fitness.

2. Start Small and Build Consistency
If you’ve taken a break from exercising, now is the time to ease back into it. Start with short, manageable workouts—like a 20-minute walk or a quick HIIT session. Consistency is key, and once you’re in the groove, you can gradually increase the intensity and duration.

3.Incorporate Fitness into Daily Routines
You don’t need a gym membership to stay fit. It can be in the park or simply at home. Incorporate exercise into your daily life—take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk to the store.These small changes can make a big difference over time.

4.Set Realistic Goals and Track Progress.
Setting achievable goals is a great way to stay motivated. Whether it’s running a 5K, lifting a certain weight, or simply feeling more energized, having a goal gives you something to strive for. Keep track of your progress to see how far you’ve come—it’s a great way to stay encouraged.

5.Prioritise Self-Care and Mental Health
Fitness isn’t just about physical health; it’s about mental well-being too. Use this time to engage in activities that bring you joy and help you relax, whether that’s meditation, reading, or spending time in nature. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical fitness.

As your kids settle into their new school routines, take this time to focus on yourself. Prioritizing fitness isn’t just about looking good; it’s about feeling good and being your best self for you and your family. Here’s to a healthier, happier you this school year!

🚫 Avoid My Mistakes! 🚫

I used to train 7 days a week, overtraining and seeing no results. My body was ruined, and I thought I had to train every day to improve. FOMO had me hooked. 😩

Then, I came to my senses and realised that’s not the way. I shifted my focus to quality over quantity, training 4-5 days a week. Now, I feel confident training on my own and have started seeing real results. 💪

I’m moving well, feeling good, and training based on how it makes me feel. My energy levels, fitness, well-being, and productivity have all improved, not to mention how I look!
