Founded in 1914 as a 13-hole course on Yarm Back Lane, Eaglescliffe moved to its present position in 1928 with a long 18-hole, Par 77 course designed by the famous James Braid. Part of the course was taken for growing crops during the war and then additional land was leased in 1948, and eventually purchased in 1959, enabling the course to be extended back to 18 holes again. With the acquisition o

f a further plot in 1968, Henry Cotton undertook the design of four new holes which, when integrated, returned the course to the traditional 18-hole, par 72 format in use today. Should you be playing golf in the North East of England, a visit to Eaglescliffe is a must. Nestled beside the River Tees with the Cleveland Hills as a backdrop, the course has been described by Golf Monthly magazine as 'a hidden gem' of English golf. Though picturesque the course is demanding due to the nature of the rolling terrain and sloping greens and provides a challenge for both novice and experienced golfers alike. The current layout of Eaglescliffe & District Golf Club lies one mile to the north of the historic medieval riverside town of Yarm and is situated on rolling terrain shelving down to the River Tees. A short drive from the towns of Stockton, Darlington and Middlesbrough, the area is readily accessible by road, rail and air. The course is an undulating parkland challenge offering a variety of natural features including streams, ponds, bunkers and a river. The signature hole is the par 5, 14th offering one of the most scenic views from the tee in the region. A stream links the pond that fronts the par 3, 17th and the pond protecting the dog-leg par 4, 5th. Please contact the club via the website

It was an absolute pleasure to have Glenn⁩ Kyle and James Gilroy⁩ bang the Yarm & Eaglescliffe FC drum at the Teesside West Rotary meeting in the restaurant tonight.

These two Y&E legends did the fans, players, volunteers, sponsors and committee extremely proud tonight and educated a room of 30 plus people on the amazing club, the journey so far and the future aspirations.

Everyone was engrossed and one of the members said it was the best talk they’ve ever seen at a Rotary meeting.

Well Done lads.

A fantastic score of -5 (68/71) saw him finish ahead of Jack Robinson in 2nd place.
