T'ai chi - Heaven Man Earth Internal Arts - Teesside

T'ai chi - Heaven Man Earth Internal Arts - Teesside Authentic T’ai-chi cultivates positive changes at the level of being. T’ai-chi is a transformational practise. T’ai-chi has a great power and potential.

It will change, balance and strengthen your body, mind and spirit. Each class you will learn techniques to open the body and joints, release tensions and calm the mind, leaving you feeling clearer, calmer and more grounded. T’ai-chi’s power comes from “Song,” from release. If you’re continually finding release in your day to day life, both physically and mentally, you will gain more calm and clari

ty and you will begin to change your habitual patterns. The benefit of this is an increase in the stability of your emotions and well-being. Our goal is to transmit authentic Yang T’ai-chi to preserve and spread further this wonderful ancient Chinese Art. In the same way as it is taught to me by my Sifu, Adam Mizner, my goal is to sincerely share his method of training so that all who may wish to benefit from its profound practise are able to do so. At Heaven Man Earth Internal Arts - Teesside we offer a systematic, comprehensive and progressive method of study, allowing people to develop and bolster their health, explore personal cultivation, and attain martial skill if they wish. These endeavours require time, patience and, above all else, perseverence and sincerity. It is certainly a worthwhile path with much to appreciate along the way. Restore Yin-Yang balance, harmony and peace to your life.

Sifu Adam Mizner transmits authentic Taijiquan from a place of experience, direct knowing and with succinct clarity. It’s always interesting to listen to him speak. With some physical experience of his art the words he uses to speak of it in conversation will always be of benefit in the insight they provide.

If you’re interested in his way of practise, book your place at Sifu Adam’s next public teaching event using the link below:

The paradox of progress within Taiji is that the mind and body need to achieve a certain baseline of “normalcy” before true gains can be made. My teacher talks about this. In order to achieve this one has to practise their Taiji correctly. Correct practise isn’t just following the method’s detail with accuracy it is also, perhaps more importantly practising with the correct temperament of mind.

Over the course of time life will pull one away from one’s practise and it is at these times that we need our practise the most. Here is the conundrum, to get the most out of training Taiji the mental posture is arguably the most important aspect to get in order. Without it one’s “availability” to practise, and any effort expended is greatly diminished in its return. This is where it gets challenging, navigating life and practise together where the reason one needs to practise is also the impediment to progress.

Through difficulties it isn’t easy applying and maintaining the lessons of one’s teacher, but if they can be applied as best as one can manage at any one time then the fruits of labour will be born. Just like we endeavour to maintain release under physical duress, eventually lowering the baseline of calm at rest, so too is there an increase in mental calm and clarity as a consequence of trying to meet mentally stressful situations with equanimity.

The positive result is that over time hardship and challenge can serve to sharpen the tools available to us for our practise. Ultimately becoming an aid in one’s cultivation.

“The four Jins are dependent on fullness, and the four diagonal Jins are to make up for deficiency.” - Sifu Adam Mizner.

At the core of Taijiquan is the transformation of being which allows for the cultivation of fullness. In order to achieve transformation direct transmission of correct method is imperative. Sifu Adam’s ability to disseminate information with succinct clarity makes this possible.

With the right teacher and the correct method, knowledge and insights are the key to developing the right qualities of body and mind. As often as you can, endeavour to spend time with a teacher who has those qualities; and in return it is important to sincerely follow the method to the highest degree you can.

“The opening of the silk body, the inner transformation of the body to make it big, on the inside.” - Sifu Adam Mizner.

Freedom comes from within when the mind and Qi are both in posture; from the creation of internal space coupled with the external ability to adapt. The internal art of Taiji is built upon a foundation of openness within the inner body. A quality that underpins the whole fundamental process of development.

To learn more about the methodology of achieving this, book your place at Sifu Adam’s next public teaching event in June; Bucharest:

It’s important to push the limits of one’s nervous system and increase its range within the body. In order to recruit and make available more and more fibres of one’s being, it is important that one develops the quality of the nervous system’s ability to permeate throughout the body. This is of the utmost significance when it comes to transmitting information, both from the central nervous system out to the limbs and back again.

This is first achieved through opening the body and unbinding its tissues, making loose the joints and creating space for new neural pathways to be laid. Once some Jibengong has been achieved then the preliminary grounds for cultivation are in place. It is the method and its details which will develop the nervous system further. The mind has both an active and a passive function, simultaneously engaging in an observational and commanding capacity; maintaining a constant “firing” of the nervous system as both conditions and causes are applied. The result over time is that the mind begins to “fill” the body, absorbing further and deeper, increasing the physical challenge of one’s practise.

At this stage of training it can take quite a lot of out the practitioner, it is important to fuel adequately and rest accordingly. Although this stage can make great improvements to the quality of one’s health and wellbeing, it is merely one aspect of the physical, and a prerequisite for the beginning of Taiji’s development to take place.

We have degrees of wrong, this must be accepted. We also have the power of sincerity and correct method. It is the doing, the sincerity towards the accuracy of detail that changes and transforms the body towards being correct. Add faith and one has all that is needed; the path of cultivation lies ahead.
