Another big Sunday of Summer League action is in the books 🏀🔥
This week belonged entirely to the Men's Premier Division.
The opening game saw Hartlepool Hangers take on Yabbadabadings, and from the opening tip it was Hartlepool setting the pace. Fast, aggressive basketball allowed them to dictate proceedings early, while Yabbadabadings struggled to find any real rhythm on either end of the floor. A handful of costly turnovers quickly turned into points the other way, helping Hartlepool build a commanding lead before turning up the pressure even further in the fourth quarter to seal a convincing 70–43 victory.
Neil Ongsuco was at the heart of everything Hartlepool did well. His decision-making and court awareness consistently lifted the team's efficiency, while his 15-point performance helped drive the Hangers to victory. A standout display that earned him both Player of the Game and Player of the Week honours.
The second matchup featured Hardwick Gwapings against Stockton Shadows. Despite another high-level performance from reigning MVP Louie Dieparine, the Shadows continued the form that has made them one of the most physical teams in the competition so far. Strong defensive pressure and relentless attacking play allowed them to take control, eventually pulling away for an impressive 81–58 win.
Leading the charge was Paul Robson, who poured in a game-high 21 points and delivered another excellent offensive performance to earn Player of the Game.
The final game of the day saw Warriors United face Amigos All Stars. Amigos wasted no time imposing themselves on the contest, finding success early and building momentum with every quarter. Warriors United struggled to get their offence going, particularly in the first half, creating an opportunity that Amigos were quick to capitalise on. By the time the final whistle sounded, Amigos had powered their way to a dominant 69–33 victory.
Anth Reed was instrumental in the win, finishing with 24 points and setting the tone from the outset. His scoring and overall impact made him a clear choice for Player of the Game.
Three games, three statement wins, and another week that showed just how quickly things can change in the Summer League. As teams continue to settle into the season, expect the intensity to keep rising and the competition to get even fiercer in the weeks ahead 🔥
