Bit of a rubbish end to the year training wise. An mri scan just before Christmas confirmed what I had already guessed, that I had injured my shoulder in October (not in the gym I might add). Not sure if I’m more upset about the tear in my rotator cuff muscle and the tendinitis or the fact the results said my shoulder muscle appeared unremarkable (how rude, I’ve been working on them for years!). Any way the new year will start with months of shoulder rehab 😔 so 🤞it doesn’t take too long!

Bloody hormones! I’ve been struggling with peri and post menopause for almost 8 years now. I went on HRT about two and a half years ago and while it seemed to work at the beginning (although the testosterone has never really done much) recently all my levels have dropped dramatically and I’m feeling pretty rough again.

I’m still taking the same doses so knew there must be something else going on and I was right. I contacted the lovely Hazel and arranged to do a and what it has shown me is that while I’m taking all this hrt it’s just not being used how it needs to be due to a number of issues.

My body is very low in something called DHEA which is a raw material needed to make oestrogen and testosterone, I have a protein produced by my liver which is too high and that’s mopping up and excreting much of what I’m taking, my waking stress levels are too high and my melatonin is very low. All in all it’s making it impossible to stay asleep.

My doctor takes bloods once a year and just says everything is ‘satisfactory’. If not sleeping through the night for 8 years is satisfactory then I have lost faith in traditional doctors to help women in my situation.

Now it’s over to Hazel to help me sort this out 🤞
