🥋 The Lineage of ICGPMA Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis

A lineage is more than names and photographs — it represents the passing down of knowledge, skill, culture and responsibility from one generation to the next.

This image shows part of the direct lineage of Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu:

🐉 Lao Soei
Known as the Tiger of the East River, who brought and established the system in Hong Kong.

🐉 Ip Shui
Who preserved, structured, and spread the art through teaching, books, challenge matches and public demonstrations.

🐉 Ip Chee Keung
Current Jeung Mun Yan and inheritor of the system, continuing the lineage passed down by his father.

🐉 Paul Whitrod
One of the longest-standing representatives of the system outside Hong Kong, helping preserve and share Chow Gar internationally across UK, Europe and the rest of the world through decades of teaching, books, seminars, videos and continued training.

From generation to generation, the art continues through dedication, practice and respect for what has been passed down.

PART 6 — SIFU PAUL WHITROD
THE LEGACY CONTINUES

From beginning training in 1975 under his Sifu Ip Chee Keung in the UK, to travelling regularly to Hong Kong as an indoor disciple to Si Gung Ip Sui / Ip Family to deepen his understanding of the system, Sifu Paul Whitrod has dedicated decades to the preservation and continuation of Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis.

Through years of training, testing the art, closed-door teachings and carrying the responsibility of an international representative, his journey reflects loyalty, discipline, humility and commitment to the art.

Since 1987, the ICGPMA has continued to unite practitioners across the UK and internationally — preserving the traditions, principles and legacy of Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis for future generations.
