I donāt think Iāve shed tears over the loss of someone Iāve not met before. But here I am 2 days in a rowā¦I ask myself why has this affected me the way it has, iāll try to make a little sense, so here goesā¦
I think for many of us, Charlie wasnāt just a political voice, he was a husband, a father, and most importantly, a brother in Christ who stood boldly for truth in a culture that often suppresses and despises it. He spoke with courage and clarity where others compromised. He carried the weight of leadership, responsibility, and conviction.
Why does this loss hit so deeply? Because as a Christian man, like Charlie, a husband and father its felt personally. As Christian Men we know what it means to shoulder the responsibility of protecting and leading our families in a world that pulls against us. My heart especially aches for his wife and his babies, who will now grow up without their Dad by their side. That thought alone breaks me.
But as Iāve prayed through this, the Lord reminded me of two scriptures:
John 12:24 ā āTruly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.ā
Romans 8:28 ā āAnd we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.ā
Charlieās life, and now his death, is not wasted. Like a seed planted in the ground, it will bear much fruit. His example of conviction will stir many others to rise up. And even in grief, we cling to the promise that God is working all things together for good, even when we cannot yet see how.
And this is where the gospel meets us. Without Christ, death is the final word. But in Jesus, death has lost its sting. āI am the resurrection and the life,ā Jesus said. āWhoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he liveā (John 11:25). At the cross, our sins are forgiven. In His resurrection, our eternity is secure. That is our hope, not just for Charlie, but for every one of us who believes.
Our time is short. Letās not waste it. Letās lead, letās stand, and letās point people to Jesus. Because the seed that falls into the ground will bear much fruit.
