This parkrunday happens to coincide with National Day of Encouragement.

There are lots of ways to make a positive impact - for you and for others.

One way to motivate others on this day is by volun-cheering at Burnage parkrun.

We have quite a few volunteering roles available - especially marshals.

So if you have ever thought about giving it a go for the first time - or even if you have done it before, and maybe want to save your legs for the following day's Great North Run - we will welcome you along and show you the ropes, and by helping you, you'll be helping others to bring about miles of smiles. 😁

Burnage parkrun

5th September 2026

This week 249 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 60 were first timers and 27 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 23 different clubs took part.

Welcome to Charlotte, Megan, Alexa, Elin and Rachel who all completed their first ever parkruns today! We hope you enjoyed our event and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Brad was our tailwalker today, accompanied by his dog Murphy, who was celebrating being 9 years old today! Happy birthday Murphy! 🐾 🎂 🎉

We had more birthday celebrations, this time accompanied by chocolates and strawberries, kindly donated by Liz Smith, who will be 50 on Monday! Thank you for the treats. Have a super birthday and we hope you look forward to a higher age grade percentage next week without having to put in any extra effort! I know it's my favourite part of ageing.

Special thanks to John and Jacqueline Cheetham, who kindly took our hi-vis bibs home last week for a thorough wash so that they could smell lovely and fresh for our fabulous team of volunteers. This week we had 35 hi-vis heroes 🦺 🦺

Burnage parkrun started on 21st July 2012. Since then 16,385 participants have completed 89,586 parkruns covering a total distance of 447,930 km, including 12,126 new Personal Bests. A total of 1,438 individuals have volunteered 12,442 times.

Finally, we've had a few items left behind over the last few weeks. A blue hoody, some earphones, some parkrun barcodes. If they belong to you, please email us at [email protected] so that we can reunite them with you.

Thank you to our awesome volunteers who have stepped forward this week. You've made filling the rota for a Bank Holiday weekend incredibly easy!

We're good to go, subject to our pre-event course check. Hopefully the rain will stay away and we can all have a great start to the long weekend!

/👗//// Event 645// The one with the tutus! //

Well done to everyone who took part in our parkrun on Saturday 22nd August.
As introduced by one of today's Co-Run Directors, Calum, during the Run Brief, folk were encouraged to come along in tutus. It was nice to see those that joined in - especially those who who were visiting from Alsager Runners.

Saturday saw 268 runners, joggers and walkers taking part - supported by 30 fab, friendly volunteers, including Alex Lord, John McCluckie and Leo Jolleys who all did their first ever volunteering stints - thank you all! 🦺

We also introduced 7 brand new First timers to parkrun. 🎉

Today we had 60 log times at our event for the first time.

There was visitors from Chesterfield, Daventry and Gloucester.

43 of you managed pbs in the slightly cooler conditions (although it was still warming up during the morning) ☀️

The smiles are back on the faces of TeamBurrelli!

Many thanks to everyone who is volunteering with us tomorrow.

Just a reminder, that as the 22nd of August falls on a Saturday this year (the only time in this calendar year this happens), some of us will be dressed up in tutus! (22).

It is not compulsory, but having a tutu on will certainly be appreciated, and bring more smiles to people's faces.

So feel free to join in with Burnage parkrun tutu day tomorrow.

Currently our roster is as empty as the nations reservoirs and waterways!

As vital as these are, we too can only operate with a number of essential roles filled.

Burnage parkrun currently needs:

8 more marshals

(Including 2 for the Car Park Entrance/

2 more Barcode Scanners

There is also spaces for someone to do the token sorting afterwards.

With the school holidays being on, many of our regular volunteers are away.

Some of us will also want to turn up in tutus.

Here is a very sad looking Calum and Lynsey. We can't have this look for Saturday 22nd August!

Yes, you read that right - it will be that one time this year where parkrunday lands on a date starting with 2️⃣2️⃣ - otherwise known as tutu day!

So this Saturday, let's have lots of folk wearing tutus!

It would also be good to have 2️⃣2️⃣ volunteers on the day.

We are looking for folk to fill the following roles:

- First Timers Welcome

- 1 x Timekeeper

- Marshals
(Including 2 for the Car park entrance)

- Finish Tokens (Giver outers)

- Barcode Scanners
