🔥 MINI WORKOUT 3

LEGS DAY 🦵🦵

All you need is a couple of weights, a step of some sort and some grit!! 💪

* Side lunge x 8-10 each side
* Alternating curtsy lunge x 16-20
* Single leg bridge with elevated front foot x 10-20 each side
* Lateral step down x 8-10 each side
* Bulgarian split squat x 8-10 each side
💦 Rest, repeat at least 3 times

Choose weights, reps and rest periods that are right for you but make sure you’re feeling it by those last few reps of each set 🔥.

🔥 MINI WORKOUT 2

CORE STRENGTH is one of my 4 foundational pillars of fitness - it’s where all functional movement stems from and prevents injury - yet it can be easy to forget to spend time on developing it.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, tag this little core burner on to the end of another workout, or do on its own on days when you only have a few minutes to spare.

* Leg drops x 10 (or 20 sgl)
(Chose your level - single leg, double leg or head up, arms out)
* Bicycle crunch x 20
(feet on floor, legs off floor or bring up your upper body for an extra challenge)
* Cross fit crunch x 10
* Shoulder to toe tap pulse x 20
💦 Rest and repeat at least 3 times

Think you don’t have time to exercise?

Maybe you do 👀

Maybe you just need to think a bit differently about HOW you exercise.

Because SOMETHING is ALWAYS better than NOTHING 💪.

10 or 15 minutes at the start, middle or end of your day can make a BIG difference.

And you might be surprised how much you can achieve in that small amount of time - for your fitness, strength, health, mood and general wellbeing.

So, no excuses 😜

I’m going to give you a series of mini workouts you can do with minimal equipment and space to get you started.

Just do each set as many times as you can in whatever time you have available.

As you get fitter, or on days where you have more time, start joining them together 🔥 .

MINI WORKOUT 1
Ball slams x 10
Press ups x 10
Mountain climbers x 20
Oblique mountain climbers x 20
Rest, repeat, go again… 🔁 💫

About 10ya I tried to persuade my kid’s primary to stop:
1. Using sweets as rewards for good work or behaviour
2. Parents bringing birthday sweets or cakes in for the class
3. Pink milk & sugary juice at lunch
4. Daily pudding
5. Improve the overall quality of school meals

A few savvy parents were firmly on ‘Team F***y’ 😂, but generally, I was met with strong resistance reminiscent of the Jamie Oliver turkey twizzler era!

I was called the fun police & other things (nothing new 😂). A psychologist said removing sweet foods would make children want them more (the opposite of what happens). A paediatrician said on a public chat that I didn’t know what I was talking about & that sugar doesn’t cause diabetes.

And the head? “For every parent who wants their child to have healthy food, there are 2 others who want them to eat sausages & pizza.” She wasn’t prepared to rock the boat - although did eventually concede on the milk & juice (and I got a new name - the ‘juice snatcher’ 😂).

BTW I never made claims that particular foods would inevitably cause future ill health (even though I could have). I just said:

1. School is a place where we have an opportunity to teach kids about healthy eating & establish good habits
2. Parents should decide when & how often their kids are given treats
3. We categorically shouldn’t be teaching kids that food - particularly sugary food - needs to be earned as a reward

But privately I said that in 10yrs we’ll look back & wonder why we gave our kids foods as dangerous as ci******es.

I didn’t have a crystal ball. I was reading, learning & keeping up with the emerging research.

And now, here we are.

Do I feel self-righteous or sanctimonious? Honestly, no. I feel sad. That my concerns weren’t taken seriously & that when I speak to parents of young children today, they tell me very little has changed.

It’s not about blame, or judging parents. But perhaps it’s time to start having a more open conversation about what we normalise for children every day - and whether things could be done differently.

Maybe it’s time we listened a little more. ❤️

💜 I was wondering what to do with this stunning purple cauliflower…

So I made this mid-week masterpiece and just wanted to show it off 🤩

1. Make some baba ganoush:
Half and aubergine, criss cross the flesh and roast in the oven for around 30 mins.
When cooked, scoop out the flesh and blend along with some lemon juice, tahini, cumin and parsley.

2. At the same time, roast some beetroot and that purple beauty (or a regular cauli).

3. Add some scrunched kale for the last 5 mins.

4. Griddle 1 small onion and a sliced yellow (or regular) courgette.

5. Cook some spelt (or another nutritious whole grain).

6. Dry fry some pecans.

7. Lay your baba ganoush onto a serving platter, tip on the cooked spelt, then the kale and vegetables. Finally sprinkle some fresh chopped coriander, crumbled feta and the pecan nuts.

To a large extent, we have a choice about what we want for our future ✨.

But it’s an investment we have to make early on.

It takes commitment, dedication and consistency 💪 .

🚶‍♀️Movement, 🏋️‍♀️ exercise, 🥗 good food, 💦 hydration, 😴 sleep and rest.

The habits you build today will shape the way you live tomorrow.

Good choices made now will give you the best chance of achieving longer, stronger AND healthier life 💚.
