Results are back.
What an amazing few days at THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS GB NATIONAL SUMMER GAMES 2026, Athletics event.
The last SOGB National Games was held in Sheffield in 2017.
This yearβs guest star was the BRIT Award-winning Rapper Aitch, who comes from Manchester.
Heβs also an ambassador for the charity Down Syndrome Association. Aitch performed his hit song βMy Gβ which is dedicated to his sister Grace, who was also present at the opening ceremony.
Our first national competition and the result are outstanding.
Gold medals - Luke for long jump with a personal best distance.
Silver medals - Daniel for 100m
and a personal best standing long jump.
Ethan for 1500m and 800m with 2 personal best times.
Bronze medals - Ryan for softball throw and to our 1st relay team (Barnaby, Bradley, Jake and Luke) each receiving a medal.
Our 2nd relay team (Ryan, Nathan, Ethan and Daniel) came in at 6th place, each winning a participation medal.
In total 1 Gold medal, 3 Silver medals, 5 Bronze medals and 15 participants medals.
4 PB.
Canβt tell you how proud we are of our 8 athletes.
Achieving what they set out to do which was to try their best and of course, having lots of fun in between.
Making lots of memories, which Iβm sure they will never forget and building new relationships.
Our athletes got to meet Lloyd Martin, who is the Guinness World Record holder for being the youngest London Marathon runner with Down Syndrome back in 2024.
Heβs also an Ambassador for Stepping Stones DS and Gold Medal gymnast.
They also got to meet Paralympian Athlete, Maddie Down, who won bronze in the T38 and 100m at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2026.
Gold for the T38 and Gold for the 60m, at the 2026 UK Indoor Championships.
At the Trinbago Commonwealth Youth Games 2023 she won gold in the T38, 100m and long jump.
Our 8 athletes showed determination, strength and sportsmanship. Competing against grown adults.
Our team was the youngest to participate in the athletics events and the only club from the North West.
