Are you serious about becoming a better virtual presenter? If you are, then learn from comedians!

In my latest quick video to help you become an exceptional virtual presenter, I talk about why you should inspire yourself from Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais (or whoever your favourite stand up comedian is!) for your next presentation.

There's much more to it than one liners and jokes!

(Though if you'd like a chimney joke, I've got a stack of them. The first one's on the house.)

How do you answer difficult audience questions? ⠀

You’ve honed a great presentation, practised it and incorporated feedback, and now you’re ready to present it to an audience, whether virtual or real.⠀

But, have you thought about the questions you might get asked?⠀

For some people, few things are more terrifying than opening up the floor to audience questions. This anxiety usually comes from the fear that they’ll be asked a difficult question they don’t have the answer to.⠀

As a presentation coach this is something I come across frequently with my clients. The fear is quite palpable. I have therefore designed methods that turn audience questions from the enemy into a trusted ally.⠀

Here are some of my favourite tips for dealing with this source of anxiety!⠀

Is your presentation all facts with no show, or all show with no facts?

Emotion and evidence need to work together to help deliver a brilliant and persuasive presentation. The best way to incorporate evidence is to be selective. Quality rather than quantity. Instead of amassing as many facts as possible to prove your credentials, focus on a few strong ones that support your claim.

The power of 3 is a useful technique for this. Your audience will retain three key points rather than many. Which are your three key points? If you need ideas, we are surrounded by 3’s in branding, messaging in our every day lives.⠀ Quick examples:⠀⠀

Nike:
McDonalds: ⠀
⠀⠀

‘See it, Say it, sorted’⠀
‘Stay home, Protect the NHS, Save lives’.
