Our first charity we are donating to this year is... 🥁🥁🥁🥁

Music24 is a local charity making a real difference across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire through something very simple, and very powerful, music.

Music24 provides music therapy, community music-making groups and one-to-one sessions for adults of all ages. But at its heart, it’s about much more than music. It’s about connection. It’s about confidence. And it’s about making sure no one feels alone.

We support people living with dementia and their carers, people with learning disabilities, those experiencing mental health challenges, and people recovering from stroke or living with neuro-disabilities.

We also run welcoming Singing Cafés for older people who may be feeling isolated, recovering from illness, or simply looking to make new friends.

Our dementia groups in Stevenage, Cheshunt, Watford & Luton are uplifting sessions that spark memories, foster connections, and bring joy. It’s remarkable how a familiar tune can bring a smile, a story, or even a dance step back to life.

Our “First Note” groups in Luton, Stevenage, Biggleswade & Bedford support adults with learning disabilities, providing a safe and supportive space for them to create music and grow in confidence.

Our “Mind Our Music" sessions in Welwyn Garden City, Luton and Bedford support people experiencing mental health challenges, using music as a tool for wellbeing and self-expression.

And our Singing Cafés in Hitchin, Welwyn Garden City, Hertford, Luton, Bedford, Ampthill, Leighton Buzzard, and Flitwick are warm, welcoming hubs where people gather for song, laughter, and light refreshments- and yes, plenty of tea and cake!

Carers are always welcome to join in, or if they prefer, they can take a little well-earned respite while their loved one enjoys the session.

What we see time and time again is how music breaks down barriers. It lifts mood. It builds friendships. It reminds people that they are not alone. A room that starts quietly can quickly fill with harmony, laughter and conversation. That is the power of music.

🏃‍♂️💦 The View of the 10K Race from the Water Station 💦🏃‍♀️

Want to know what race day looks like from one of the loudest, happiest and most supportive spots on the course? Welcome to the hydration station! 🙌

From cheering every runner, jogger and walker past us, to shouting encouragement and handing out drinks on the move — our amazing volunteers help keep the race spirit alive from start to finish.

You’ll find us:
👏 Clapping and whoop-whooping for every single participant
🥤 Handing out water with smiles and encouragement
🚴 Keeping the cycleway clear and safe before runners return
📍 Organised and spread out to keep everything flowing smoothly
💬 Sharing laughs, banter and positive vibes with everyone passing by
❤️ Checking in on those who may be struggling and giving them that extra boost
🧹 Leaving the area spotless afterwards — no trace left behind!

And the best part? Our water station team includes volunteers of all ages, including younger family members getting involved and helping create an incredible atmosphere for the runners. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Whether you’re chasing a PB, jogging with friends or walking the course, you’ll get the same huge cheers on that final stretch back past us! 🏅

Oh… and we always bring our raincoats too ☔🤣 because once the runners have gone through, some of our volunteers absolutely LOVE a water fight while we’re clearing away!

A massive thank you to every volunteer who makes race day so special — you are hugely appreciated. 💙

This year, we’re doing something completely different… and we think you’re going to LOVE it.

For the first time ever, the Menzies Stevenage won’t just be rewarding the podium finishers. Instead, we’ll be giving away a fantastic range of prizes to RANDOM finishing positions across both the 5k and 10k races.

That means whether you finish 1st, 51st, 76th or 143rd… YOU could be taking home a prize! 🙌

A few days before race day on 📅 30th August 2026, we’ll reveal the full prize list along with the lucky finishing positions. Prize donors simply pick a random finishing number, and whoever crosses the line in that position wins!
