A busy weekend of football saw us have two league games this week.

First up we travelled to Stirling High School to face Dunblane where we also welcomed the return of a familiar face with Grace L back home at Stenny, and what an impact she made. We started well and had a lot of possession creating chances which were kept out by some great goalkeeping by the Dunblane No1. Despite this possession Dunblane were the ones to take the lead however we pulled level when Daisy’s power and determination had her through on goal and finished calmly.

A rare mistake saw the home side take the lead again but again we pulled back level once more after a prime Barca passing move and a beautiful placed ball from Grace L enabled Katarzyna to slot home.

We pushed for the winner however with the game time cut short we were unable to do so.

POTM was Lily. Playing in that No 10 role she controlled huge parts of the game and produced some amazing through balls for the wingers to create chances as well as linking up the midfield.

Next up we welcomed Bannockburn to Ochilview on Sunday morning. After many late bed times after the Scotland game we knew we would have to wake up quick against a good side.

We started play well moving the ball around nicely and using the wings to good effect. Some terrific foot work by Grace L down the left saw her create her own chance to give us the lead in the game. The football kept flowing and a huge save from Murron saw us keep the lead, which we improved on after Katarzyna’s initial shot rattled the bar and she reacted fast to knock in the rebound.

Some more great work from Murron and our back line kept Bannockburn at bay and we added a third from a well struck free kick from Daisy high into the net.

Really pleased at how we played and how we moved the ball around well from through the middle and the wides areas.

POTM for this game went to Daisy. Trying a new role upfront and learning with every match saw her bag a third goal in three games. Using her power and pace well to create chances and linking up well with the wingers.

Today we travelled to Tullibody to face Sauchie in the quarter finals of the league cup. Having played them only last week, we knew what to expect and what we were up against.

The message today was to win the ball and move it quickly to try and stop them using their strength and pace. This was made a tad harder on the grass pitch however we still moved the ball around well playing some great football.

Twice we went behind however both times got back level after lovely finishes from Katarzyna and Daisy, both trying new positions today and Zara getting a third late in the half. Sauchie then went on a flurry with long balls and long grass catching us out and everything they hit seemed to go in. 7-3 half time

Half time message was more of the same and try and win the second half. We managed this by again playing some fantastic football, worked hard and fought every challenge. So proud of this bunch, first year at 11’s and a quarter final cup exit to a very strong team.

POTM today went to Sophie 🏅

Her work rate and composure on the ball in the middle of the park was the start of most of our plays and she never stopped, even when she came off 😆

This weekend we have the same opponent, different venue as we head to play Sauchie again in the last 8 of the league cup.

On Sunday we travelled to Alloa to face Sauchie in the league and as expected was a very tough and physical game.

We started well moving the ball nicely but couldn’t find a way to break the defence to get a chance at goal. Sauchie showed their age and experience advantage and used it well to go ahead by 2 at half time.

In the second half we couldn’t compete with this. Despite playing some good football and creating chances, 2 of which were well taken through Thea, the age and experience, aggression and intimidation was too much for us.

We will learn from this experience and take the positives from it.

POTM today went to Murron 🏅Despite being helpless for some of the goals, she produced some huge saves and her distribution was excellent and key to helping us move from back to front. Well done Murron.

Sunday was also an emotional day as it marked the last game for Thea in a Stenny shirt. She has been with us from her first kick of a ball and l was always a joy to coach. It’s been a pleasure watching her grow from a development player to a strong, determined striker and person she is today.

We would like to wish her all the very best for her future and she will be hugely missed on and off the pitch 🫶🏻

Tomorrow we head to Lornshill Academy to face Sauchie in the league. We are aware this will be a tough game but one we will look forward to. 💪🏻

This weekend we are back on league duty after our cup win as we host Gartcairn Blacks at Ochilview.

Today we welcomed Bo’ness U14’s to Ochilview in the glorious sunshine. We knew this was going to be a tough test with Bo’ness being older and in the league above us but this didn’t deter the girls.

The match was quite even with chances and one end for Skye and at the other pulling out a great save on to the bar from Murron. The rest of the half continued this was with both teams looking for the opener.

0-0 at the break the girls upped their game in the second half where we continued to move the ball about well. After a lot of possession and more chances falling to us, we knew the goal was coming and it came from Sophie, who brought the ball down from a corner and kept her calm to volley home. The girls kept pushing and great work from Thea, dropping in and setting up Daisy who unleashed a shot from the edge of the box to seal the game.

Standouts today were Kadie who is constantly solid at the back and Grace who just oozes class and composure in the middle, however POTM today was Lyra. She carried on her performance from the last game and was heavily involved with everything the girls done. Whether it was soaking up attacks or creating our own, Lyra was involved in most of it 🎖️💪🏻

Absolutely delighted for the girls who and starting to find their way at 11’s and growing each game.
