As we approached the end of a long season, we faced league leaders Carluke in back-to-back fixtures, with the first encounter at Ochilview.
The side was shuffled, consisting predominantly of our former 2009 squad, providing a valuable opportunity to assess how they could adapt to Under-19 level.
The match began at a high tempo, with both teams pressing and creating chances. Carluke, knowing a win could secure the title, started strongly and took the lead after 14 minutes following a defensive error. Three minutes later, a looping free kick found the top corner (17 mins), and the pressure grew when they added a third on 27 minutes.
To their credit, the lads regrouped well and showed composure. Their efforts were rewarded before the break when Kyle finished from close range on 34 minutes, giving Stenny a lifeline.
The second half saw Stenny come out with real intent. Ruadhri reduced the deficit on 47 minutes with a well-taken finish, and just four minutes later he struck again to level the game (51 mins), completing a quick turnaround.
Momentum had fully shifted, with Stenny dominating possession and applying sustained pressure. Their persistence paid off on 69 minutes when Jack Q put them ahead. Kyle then added his second on 77 minutes to effectively seal the win.
Carluke attempted a late rally, but the defence held firm. A penalty deep into added time proved only a consolation for the visitors.
Overall, it was a fantastic comeback against a side that has led the league from the outset, highlighting the character and quality within the squad and offering real encouragement for next season.

As we close the season, it’s been three games of mixed emotions.
A narrow loss to Glasgow United where we missed a late penalty that could have earned a point. A strong response followed with a convincing win over St Cadocs, showing our quality despite a brief wobble. Finally, a spirited performance against the side that knocked us out of the semi-finals — a game where, on another day, we could have taken all three points.
Encouragingly, all three matches featured players stepping up who will be part of next season’s squad. Plenty of promise and positives to build on.

FT: Blantyre SA 4–1 Stenhousemuir
Tough afternoon in Hamilton for our penultimate away fixture.
A cagey first half saw both sides create chances, but it was Blantyre who took the lead from the spot in a controversial decision. We responded well, with Aiden driving forward from wing-back and finishing smartly to make it 1–1 at the break.
The second half saw us take control, and we felt we should have had a penalty after Jack was brought down in the box—waved away by the referee. That decision shifted momentum, and shortly after Aiden was shown a straight red following a reaction to another call.
Down to 10 men, the task became even tougher. Blantyre regained the lead with 10 minutes to go and capitalised on our push forward with two late goals that didn’t reflect the balance of play.
Disappointing result, but we regroup quickly and go again midweek. 💪

Match Report – Semi-Final

It was semi-final day, and the lads were ready to take on a very organised and resilient Cumbernauld Colts side.
The match started positively, with Stenhousemuir competing well in the early stages. However, disaster struck after 10 minutes when a large gap opened in central midfield. A Cumbernauld midfielder exploited the space and calmly guided a well-taken shot past Lewis to give his side the lead.
That early setback clearly affected the team, and for the next 15 minutes the lads struggled to regain their composure. Cumbernauld capitalised, scoring three further goals in a very similar fashion to the opener. Despite being shell-shocked, the team showed resilience and managed to see out the remainder of the first half without conceding again.

The half-time message was simple – regroup, show character, and get back into the game.
The response was immediate. On 48 minutes, Freddie pulled one back from a set piece, and suddenly the lads looked more energised and competitive. Momentum began to swing, and belief crept back into the team.
Unfortunately, that momentum was halted on 54 minutes as Cumbernauld scored a fifth goal – another significant blow. The lads continued to battle, but a defensive error later led to a sixth goal, making the challenge even steeper.
To their credit, the team never gave up. On 84 minutes, Michael scored from a set piece to reduce the deficit and provide a late glimmer of hope. However, no further goals followed despite a determined finish.

A disappointing result on the day, particularly given the promise going into the match. While the scoreline reflects a difficult first half, there were positives to take from the team’s response, commitment, and refusal to fold.
Attention now turns to the remainder of the league campaign, where the lads will look to bounce back and continue pushing up the table.

Match Report – Stenhousemuir U19s vs Westerton United
Another midweek fixture saw the lads host Westerton United at Larbert High School, following our earlier away meeting where we secured a 6–4 victory, albeit after a late scare despite holding a significant lead.
The opening stages were cagey, with both sides probing but neither gaining real control. The breakthrough eventually came on 26 minutes, when Max produced a fine solo effort to open the scoring. This settled the team, and momentum quickly shifted in our favour.
Freddie added a second just two minutes later (28 mins) with a composed finish, before Brandon extended the lead with a well-taken brace (37 mins and 44 mins). Although Westerton managed to pull one back before the break, the control and dominance were firmly with Stenhousemuir.

The second half began in similar fashion, with the lads quickly reasserting control. Two goals in as many minutes effectively sealed the match — Brandon completed his hat-trick on 59 minutes, followed shortly by a composed finish from Jack on 61 minutes.
With one eye on Saturday’s semi-final, changes were introduced onto the pitch. While further goals did not follow, the team maintained control and saw the game out comfortably. A positive moment also saw Brady make his debut late on, where he was called into action and produced a couple of smart saves.

Summary
A controlled and professional performance from start to finish, with the team showing composure and maturity throughout. The result moves us into the top eight of the league for the first time this season and sets us up well ahead of Saturday’s semi-final.

League Action again tonight against fellow Cup semi-finalists Westerton in our return league fixture we won in February.

League action returned to LHS, and following a midweek win, our earlier lack of home fixtures was beginning to pay dividends as we welcomed Lenzie YCA.
The match followed a familiar pattern early on, with Lenzie sitting deep and looking to frustrate, leaving us tasked with using our superior football to break them down. Unlike the previous fixture, the breakthrough came early. On 11 minutes, a fine cross from Ryan was met by Brandon, who nodded the ball over the goalkeeper to give us the lead.
Despite our dominance, the visitors equalised on 24 minutes with a rare foray forward, undoing much of our early good work. The game looked set to remain level at the break despite further chances at both ends, but right on half-time Brandon turned provider, squaring for Marti to slot calmly beneath the goalkeeper on 45+1 minutes, restoring our advantage.
HT: Stenhousemuir 2–1 Lenzie YCA
After a brief pep talk, the lads returned determined to finish the job. However, Lenzie remained dogged and clawed their way back into the game for a second time with an equaliser on 54 minutes.
The response was immediate. Just two minutes later (56 mins), Freddie finished well into the corner to put us back in front. Momentum swung firmly in our favour soon after when Charlie rose from a set piece on 58 minutes to extend the lead.
Michael added a fifth on 84 minutes, seemingly closing out the contest. A late rally from the visitors saw them pull one back on 88 minutes, but Michael quickly extinguished any doubt, completing his brace in stoppage time (90+1 minutes) to seal the points.

In summary, it was a tough watch at times, but a deserved three points. We now turn our attention to hosting Westerton midweek before our key game of the season — the semi-final against Cumbernauld on Saturday

Stenhousemuir 2–0 Bo’ness United
Midweek Fixture – Larbert High School
The first midweek fixture in the run-in saw us entertain local rivals Bo’ness United at Larbert High. With the match played on the grass park, we knew conditions would pose a challenge to our usual style and that this would not be one for the purists.
From kick-off it was clear the visitors arrived with a clear game plan—sit deep, stay compact, and look to exploit counter-attacking opportunities. We dominated possession for long spells, pressing and probing patiently, but Bo’ness remained disciplined and organised, forcing us to reassess and look for alternative ways to break them down.
Despite creating a number of half-chances, frustration grew as the first half progressed, with the Bo’ness defensive block holding firm. The opening period ended goalless, despite our territorial dominance.
Half-time: Stenhousemuir 0–0 Bo’ness United
The lads were re-energised at the break, with a couple of tactical tweaks and substitutions designed to increase our attacking threat. As the second half wore on, the decision was made to adjust the formation in order to stretch the visitors and create clearer opportunities.
The change paid dividends. Pressure began to tell and the breakthrough finally arrived on 69 minutes when Jack danced through the defence and calmly slotted the ball into the corner. The sense of relief was clear throughout the team.
Momentum stayed with us and just three minutes later Brandon doubled the advantage, showing great composure to scoop his finish over the onrushing goalkeeper and effectively seal the contest.
Further chances followed as we continued to push, but while the scoreline wasn’t extended, the lads controlled the remainder of the match professionally to secure a deserved three points.
Attention now turns to the weekend as we prepare for our next fixture away to Lenzie.
