Big shout out to Russ at M & B Printers in Dunmow for printing our fabulous flyers, all ready for the Stebbing Fayre this Sunday!

We look forward to meeting you there - we have lots of ball-related games 🎾 for all ages to take part in, with fun prizes up for grabs!

🎾☀️ What a fabulous club day out at Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club!

A huge thank you to Sara Hill for organising a brilliant day for eight Stebbing Tennis Club members on the beautiful grass courts at Frinton.

With the help of a little AI magic, everyone enjoyed six sets of tennis with different pairings throughout the day, creating some fantastic matches, plenty of variety and lots of laughs.

Played in glorious sunshine, the day also included plenty of Pimms, ice-cream,beer and coffee, a refreshing dip in the club pool to cool off, and fish and chips on the way home 😋

Taking part were Rorie, Tracy, Sara H, Sara P, Kim, Ness, Sophy and our token male for the day, David!

Fabulous tennis, great company, beautiful surroundings and perfect weather. What’s not to like? 🎾🍹🌞

We hope to organise another day very soon!

Last week, Sophy Walker, Committee Member and Assistant Coach at the Club, attended a ‘Disability in Tennis’ course, run by and , which proved to be an incredibly inspiring and eye-opening experience.

The course provided the opportunity to meet and play with Special Olympics gold medal winner , alongside wheelchair tennis players who generously shared their experiences and insights into the sport.

Participants also had the chance to try wheelchair tennis first-hand, gaining a real appreciation for the skill, coordination and athleticism involved.

Reflecting on the session, Sophy commented on how valuable it was in highlighting the importance of inclusivity within tennis and encouraging clubs to continue exploring ways to make the sport more accessible and welcoming for players of all backgrounds and abilities.

As a club, we are committed to learning, listening and creating an environment where everyone can enjoy tennis and feel part of the community 🎾

What a fantastic day at Stebbing Tennis Club for the 20th anniversary of our much-loved Gnome Charity Tournament, all in aid of Melanoma UK.

Thirteen couples battled it out on court for the honour of winning the esteemed Gnome trophy, with some brilliant tennis played throughout in a wonderfully competitive and friendly spirit. Thankfully, the rain held off and the atmosphere was superb from start to finish.

A huge thank you to Tracy Warren for organising the tournament so expertly once again, and to Stan Ryman for masterfully managing the scoring throughout the day.

Congratulations to our worthy winners, Tracy Warren and Patrick Berry, and to runners-up Sue Spinks and Hein Leonhardt.

This year’s charity held particular meaning, as the tournament was dedicated in support of Patrick Berry (Maz’s brother), who is currently battling melanoma. Following the prize giving, Patrick spoke movingly about his journey and how fundraising events such as today directly support the pioneering research and treatments that he is currently benefiting from. How fitting, and rather special, that he also went on to win the tournament today.

A fabulous raffle, supported by many generous contributors, also helped raise extra donations and brought plenty of smiles along the way.

Together, the club raised over £500 for Melanoma UK, a fantastic achievement and a wonderful example of the power of sport, friendship and community coming together for an important cause. 🎾💙
