Ironman 70.3✅
Now the quads have recovered and can walk properly again, I thought I’d share how it went down. Start of the year I wanted to complete a triathlon, instead of starting small, i thought why not and do a Ironman 70.3? I originally had one booked in as a competition but this got cancelled, so I decided to still do it but as a ‘backyard’ triathlon. So how did this go? Swim - very happy how my pace was throughout, suprised myself in getting 30:00 in which I thought I would go a lot slower. Bike - the transition felt good, no fatigue looking forward to the miles ahead. I even beat the wife to my first checkpoint I was pacing that good. Even kept the pace throughout but still trying to save energy for the run. Run - this is where I hit the wall, first mile in I hit cramp in both quads and had to walk to stretch these out. Managed to get some kind of pace, but from limited water and the sun starting shine I really didn’t prep enough this. Even with all this I managed to power through and complete my first triathlon in 5:59:10.
What now? More triathlons in the future for sure! Sorry wife!

Quick Maths!!!!

I’ve spent over the last couple of years inputting data into my food macors spreadsheet with how many nutrients are in foods I eat.

I can then simply work out how many calories, protein, fats etc is in a meal by creating a meals that I make.

YES!…you can use ‘my fitness pal’ but I find it easier doing it this way to pre plan my meals and then make a meal plan that fits my targets

Now I have all my foods laid out with how many nutrients are in each meal, it’s then a maths game to add meals to my weekly meals to add up to what calories I am on each week (if that makes sense?)

I am constantly adding foods to my spreadsheet and creating new meals for me to eat each week that are easy, enjoyable and cheap 😏

Meal Planning….🍎🍌🧄🍗

Why is it important? 🤷‍♂️

Here is 5️⃣ reasons it good to plan your meals weather you meal prep or even cook fresh

1 - SAVING TIME
Planning your meals for the week can help you to manage your time better. We spend a lot of time deciding what to eat, food shopping, cooking and then cleaning up after dinner. By planning ahead and organising your meals, it means there’s no more last minute trips to the shops and reduces the aimless wandering and overspending when you’re there.
2 - FOOD WASTE
Whether you’re planning out your meals or using a meal prep company to manage your meal prep, it can help reduce the amount of food you waste. We can all be a little guilty of wasting food, but by only buying what you need and using the ingredients as close to when you purchase them can reduce what ends up in the bin at the end of the week
3 - LESS COOKING
By having your meals organised ahead of time can reduce the dreaded ‘what’s for dinner?’ question. We know planning dinner can be an unnecessary stress, particularly on weeknights when you have to race home from work and try and get a healthy, nutritious meal on the table.
4 - SAVING MONEY
Who doesn’t love to save some money? With meal planning, you can be more prepared, and this reduces impulse buying of unnecessary products at the shops. A lot of which will be thrown away anyway. Buy in bulk prepping all your meals can save a hell of a lot of money.
5 - AVOID BUYING EXTRA/UNHEALTHY OPTIONS
Meal planning helps to make the easy option a healthy one. Instead of heading to the drive-through or picking up an unhealthy takeaway on the way home, knowing you have a meal ready for you at home can eliminate the temptation of unhealthy last minute options.

The battle of CrossFit and Calisthenics is here again!!!

Which pull up variation do you prefer?

Left or Right?

Like I’ve said previously I do like doing CrossFit I’m not hating on them. I just do think it looks funny doing a butterfly pull up

The only reason they do these pull ups is to race and finish a workout as quick as possible. If you want to gain size and strength I’d recommend doing the one or the right 💯

Calisthenics vs CrossFit?

Which handstand walk do you prefer?

Don’t get me wrong, I do dabble in on the old CrossFit every now and then. And if it was a race I’ll be sure to do the one on the right.

But a calisthenic style handstand walk is so much more aesthetically pleasing and looks more controlled

Comment below which one you prefer.
Left or Right??????
