Unfortunately, the lads were unable sign off with the result they so badly wanted.

The first half saw our opponents take control from the off and take a deserved lead. We did grow into the game after conceding and managed to pull a goal back to come in at half time level at 1-1.

The second half was very much the same as as the first, however we were creating more than we did in the first. The sucker punch came with 12 minutes to go as Whitton scored to make it 2-1. At this point we knew we had to throw caution to the wind so went with 3 up front which we knew could leave us exposed but, we had to gamble and unfortunately, the gamble didn’t quite pay off as we conceded again to lose the tie 3-1 and walk away as runners up.

In truth, we lost to the better team on the night so I have no complaints but I’m utterly gutted for the lads.

I would also like to say a huge congratulations to Whitton on retaining the title 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Now, we may have lost the game of football but the real winner tonight was this team. Seeing their emotions pouring out in the changing room after the game was unreal as it showed just how much they care and for me, that’s all I’ve ever wanted - to build a team who are there for each other both on and off the field and tonight truly proved that.

So, after 11 unforgettable years and memories which will last me a lifetime, the time has come to say a fond farewell. I will be forever greatful for having the opportunity to lead this team and I can’t wait to see and hear about what the future holds for these young men.

Well, what can I say—today felt like a real anticlimax after all the buildup this double header deserved.

The lads were off it in too many areas, and while that’s tough to take, there’s a feeling that maybe they’ve kept something in reserve for what could still be a very special night on Friday.

We took the lead in both games and went into half time level at 1-1, but the changes we made to give everyone minutes just didn’t come together as we’d hoped. More than that, though, the usual attitude, energy, and desire we pride ourselves on just weren’t quite there today. That’s the most disappointing part—but it’s also why this feels like an off day rather than a true reflection of this group.

This team has achieved so much over the years, and one performance doesn’t change that. We’ll take it on the chin, learn from it, and move forward together.

Back to training on Thursday, with full focus on one last game as a group. A League Cup title is still there to fight for—and what a way that would be to close this chapter.

After 11 incredible years, it all comes down to one final night.

On Friday 8th May 2026, we head to Leatherhead Youth FC for the League Cup Final, where we face Whitton Wanderers Youth U18 Eagles in pursuit of one last piece of silverware to bring this remarkable journey to a fitting close.

This group has given everything over the years, and they deserve a huge backing for this special occasion. Let’s come together one last time—get down in numbers, make some noise, and show your support for the Ashford Town (Middlesex) Juniors U17 Tangerines as they look to finish in style.

As the season draws to a close, so too does a significant chapter for this team, with just a few weeks remaining in what has been an incredible journey. Despite the approaching end, there is still plenty to play for, with a runners-up spot in the league and a League Cup trophy firmly in our sights.

After 11 fantastic years leading this group, the finish line is now in view. However, our approach remains unchanged—professional, focused, and committed—and today was no exception.

With so much at stake, the players understood the importance of the occasion and, as they have consistently done over the years, gave everything from the first whistle to the last.

Having a full squad available provided the perfect platform, allowing us to name a strong starting XI supported by a very capable bench.

The game was competitive throughout, but there was a clear determination about the group today—they were not prepared to let this opportunity slip. We went into half-time with a deserved 2–1 lead, which allowed us to make adjustments to both personnel and shape for the second half.

Unfortunately, those early changes didn’t have the desired impact, and our hosts responded quickly to level the score. In truth, they could have gone ahead if not for a series of excellent saves from Jay, who kept us firmly in the contest. As AFC Ewell began to gain momentum, we made further changes, reverting to a 4-4-2 formation. This proved decisive, as we struck twice in quick succession to establish a 4–2 lead.

The final moments brought some tension, as AFC Ewell pulled a goal back to make it 3-4, but the players managed the closing stages with composure and resilience to secure all three points.

It has been, and continues to be, a privilege to lead this team. With a little more still to achieve, we look forward to finishing this final season on a high.

Today saw us travel to Reigate to take part in a double header against Reigate Priory FC Youth U18 Eagles who are one of three teams in our division who are a year older than us.

To ensure we still have a chance of finishing runners up in the division, we knew we had to get something out of these games as the division is very tight at the top.

Having had players pull out due to injury as well as going to the wrong location, we went into both games with a squad of only 13 which was very lean in comparison to our opponents, however, this did not stop the lads putting in two outstanding performances.

In truth, our hosts probably feel a little aggrieved that they didn’t get something out of the first game as for large parts, they were the better team but as they say, goals change games and after finding ourselves 1-0 down, the lads stepped up and scored two well worked goals and got the 3 points.

The second game of the double header definitely had a little added spice to it which split over onto the pitch at times.

Having gone 1-0 up, our hosts hit back with 2 goals to lead 2-1 and with the clock ticking down, they thought they had avenged the first result and shared the points on the day but, our lads are made from sterner stuff in games like this nowadays and managed to draw level which prompted huge celebrations on the pitch.

Due to our opponents being unable to field a side, they have unfortunately had to concede the fixture, meaning tomorrow’s game is off ❌⚽️

We now have a couple of weekends to rest and reset before turning our focus to the final six league fixtures, starting on Sunday 12th April, along with our U18 League Cup Final on Friday 8th May 2026.

After securing two wins in as many weeks in the U18 League Cup and confirming our place in the final, our attention now turns back to league action this weekend with the visit of Esher Youth Football Club U17 Wizards Whites.

Having faced Esher back in October 2025, we will need to be fully focused and ready for the task at hand, as it’s safe to say they will be looking for revenge after we took all three points with a 3–1 win away from home.
