The moment you realise that it’s possible to lose fat WITHOUT tracking calories 😱

The ONLY way to lose body fat is to create a calorie deficit and place yourself into a negative energy balance.

Personally, I’m a fan of using tracking devices for a period of time to monitor calories, especially for new clients

It’s important to know where your calories are coming from

Not all foods are created equal when it comes to nutrition and some foods will leave you feeling fuller for longer than others

While counting calories can be an effective way to have an awareness around nutrition and help create a negative energy balance to lose body fat, I appreciate it’s not for everyone and there are other tools at our disposal which still focus on other strategies that support CICO that might be more effective for some people

1️⃣ Use smaller plates to help keep portion size under control

2️⃣ Eat more protein to help increase satiety, leading to reduced hunger

3️⃣ Choose high volume foods with less calories and more fibre such as vegetables and fruits

4️⃣ Make the bulk of your food choices from whole sources, minimising higher
processed foods that can lead to increased calories without the satiety

5️⃣ Increase your activity levels with regards to NEAT to entice more calories burned and resistance training to help maintain a muscle mass.

The mini-cut has completely transformed my approach to weight loss.

In the past, I struggled with restrictive diets that left me feeling deprived and ultimately led to me falling off track.

However, the past 8 weeks has been a revelation for me.

I've learned how to properly fuel my body and the results have been incredible.

The media is full of transformation stories leading you to believe that if you just eat a little less, and the weight will simply lose itself and you'll live happily ever after.

Not only does this ignore the everyday struggles that people have in actually making it happen, but it sets up false expectations of how long it can take to lose weight (read: quite a long time!) and how mentally taxing it can be to keep it off.

I meet Sophie who was exhausted by the constant thinking about how SHE can get the kilos off, following a cycle of restriction, then overeating, then guilt, then restriction again…

but ultimately getting nowhere with HER weight loss goals and losing a bunch of self esteem in the process.

It’s because of all of this that I prefer to work with women to achieve body recomposition rather than weight loss. In short, it means you aim to build a bit of muscle and to lose a bit of fat.
