πŸ… Medal Monday πŸ…

Congratulations to David Mason, who completed The Wall at the weekend alongside his nephew Robbieβ€” an incredible 70-mile journey from Carlisle to Newcastle. A fantastic achievement and a testament to determination and endurance.

This was in the hope to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis for his grandson Archie

DAC achieved it! πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

They completed the pilgrimage route between Heavenfield and the shrine of St Cuthbert at Durham Cathedral. The total distance is 72 kilometres (45 miles), with the route divided into five sections ranging from 8 to 18 kilometres.

The pilgrimage then continued as the runners made their way from Durham into Stanley, showing determination, resilience and true team spirit every step of the way.

The runners were absolutely amazing throughout the journey, and this is an incredible achievement that everyone involved should be very proud of.

Well done to all! πŸ™ŒπŸŽ‰

The Derwentside Runners are on their way back to Stanley as they take on their annual relay challenge once again! Covering over 63 miles with plenty of hills along the way, the team will be passing the baton through towns and villages across the route before heading for the finish line at the Louisa Centre.

The relay follows the trail β€˜The Way of Light’ but derwentside will continue to run home.
This is an official 45-mile (72 km) long-distance pilgrimage route in Northeast England that connects St Oswald’s Church at Heavenfield (near Hadrian's Wall) to Durham Cathedral. It is one of the six Northern Saints Trails designed to showcase the region's rich Christian heritage and stunning landscapes.

Good luck to everyone taking part – run strong, support each other, and enjoy every mile. We’ll be cheering you all the way home! πŸ’™πŸ–€

Good luck to club member davy today as he takes on the Rat Race – The Wall! πŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

He’ll be covering an incredible 70 miles from Carlisle Castle to Newcastle, with an early start ahead of him.

He’s taking on this challenge alongside his nephew, who is a three-time Wall veteran. Davy is an Army veteran, so with both of their experience, determination and resilience, I’m sure they’ll tackle this together.

They’re doing it all for a very special reason β€” Davy’s grandson, Archie, who has cystic fibrosis. They’re raising funds in the hope of supporting the development of better treatments, and ultimately finding a cure, so that Archie can live the full and normal life every child deserves.

Wishing Davy and his nephew the very best of luck. You’ve got this! β€οΈπŸ‘

This week at club we’ve had our monthly Kenyan Hills session. We had a good turnout and everyone worked hard. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ›°οΈ

Kenyan Hills is a session where you run repeated loops up and down a hill to see how many you can complete in one workout. It’s a challenging but rewarding session that offers huge benefits for runners of all abilities.

This type of training helps to:

*Enhance your ability to recover while still moving .
* Build strength and endurance.
* Make you more resilient for longer-distance races.
* Develop power and improve running efficiency.

It wasn’t easy, but the effort everyone put in was fantastic. Great work from all who came along and gave it their all! πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

O the lads you should have seen them gannin 🎡

Heather, David, Kate and Sharon completed the iconic Blaydon Race! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ From Newcastle to Gateshead, they crossed the finish line and celebrated in true Geordie style with some Geordie bait – a ham and pease pudding stottie or a cheese savoury stottie. πŸ₯ͺπŸ‘ What a fantastic event to be part of . You are not a Geordie until you’ve taken part on πŸŽ‰

Well done to everyone who took part in the 15th year for the

Bolts Law Run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ›°οΈ

The Bolts Law Run is a social run from Rookhope up to Bolts Law Summit in the beautiful Durham Dales.

The run is held in memory of John Donneky Senior, a valued member of Durham Athletics Club and father of our fabulous runner young John Donneky . It’s a chance for runners to come together and enjoy the stunning scenery with friends.

A special event that combines friendship, remembrance, and a shared love of running. β€οΈπŸ’™
