How do you define progress?
“The in-between space where change is happening, even if you can't see it yet. Progress isn't linear or loud-it's honest effort, small wins, and learning along the way. Keep going. You're further than you think”
To the onlooker, having attended 2 tournaments all ending in defeat scoring 1 solitary goal, you could be forgiven for thinking progress is not being made.
However, within the group, we have been grasping the “small wins”
▪️A great Save
▪️A piece of skill
▪️Our first goal
▪️Supporting each other
As coaches, we see the progress made by this bunch of likely lads, but the challenge is to reinforce this to them in defeat.
“You played so well today “
“We are improving week by week”
“Stick together and believe in yourselves”
Yesterday our Stamford Unity Tournament Squad travelled over to Godmanchester for part 3 of the Inclusive Festival of Football.
And now the progress was there for everyone to see.
Our fantastic squad competed through all of their games and their hard work was rewarded with their first win.
I would like to say they celebrated like mad, but to be honest, they didn’t quite know what to do.
Winning is not everything but sometimes that positive result will fuel more confidence and belief.
Just as important as progress “on” the pitch, our boys are forging strong friendships within the squad, even though work needs to be done with the team photo.
Upwards and Onwards to our future events.
But Progress is being made ⚽️🦁🔴
Thanks to everyone for organising such brilliant tournaments and our sponsors Frontline Fascias & Orchard Windows Stamford for keeping the guys looking smart
